New Atlas reported the Shelly on March 22, 2025, attributing it to Tiny Solar Homes. The available report extract identifies a few core features, but does not provide a full specification sheet.

New Atlas’s report does not state the Shelly’s price, solar-array wattage, usable battery capacity, floor plan, loaded weight, or tow-vehicle requirements.
What “off-grid” does—and does not—tell you
Solar panels and a battery indicate an electricity setup that can operate without a conventional grid connection. They do not, by themselves, establish how long the Shelly can run without sun or whether its power supply suits a particular household. The panel output, battery capacity, appliances, location, and daily energy use all affect that answer; none of those figures is reported for this model.

Does the trailer make it road-legal?
No. A triple-axle trailer is a reported construction detail, not proof of road certification, registration eligibility, or permission to tow or occupy the home. The Shelly’s loaded weight, axle and trailer ratings, brakes, certification, and required tow vehicle are not stated in the available report.

Rules depend on where the home is registered, towed, parked, and occupied. Confirm the applicable requirements with the builder and relevant local authorities before treating the Shelly as a road-ready vehicle or planning a move.

- Solar-panel wattage, battery chemistry and usable capacity, and expected performance for your planned loads and location.
- Loaded trailer weight, axle ratings, brakes, certification, and the tow vehicle required for the loaded home.
- Water storage and supply, wastewater arrangements, and any other utility equipment included.
- Where the home can be registered, towed, parked, and occupied under the rules that apply to your intended location.
- Current availability, delivery terms, and total price for your region.
How to compare it with other off-grid homes
Compare complete, like-for-like specifications rather than relying on the label “off-grid.” KYRAX Homes, for example, says it sizes full off-grid packages according to the site and loads; that is general context about its own offerings, not a Shelly specification. Its off-grid tiny homes page illustrates why system configuration matters.
Likewise, Tiny House Building Company’s Croft model is a separate product. Its listed 2,000-watt solar system, battery bank, propane appliances, and 42-gallon water tank are not features established for the Shelly. See the company’s Croft Model for those model-specific details.

For a meaningful comparison, line up usable length and floor area, loaded weight and trailer capacity, certification, tow requirements, solar and usable battery capacity, water and waste systems, sleeping layout, included options, and delivered price. The Shelly’s available reporting establishes only some of those points.
Trailer rules and specifications also vary by market. Australian vendor Off the Grid in OZ provides information about its own tiny house trailers; its local registration or permit guidance should not be assumed to apply elsewhere.
