Yes. As of 1 October 2026, approved recipients of Selangor’s RM30 monthly public transport subsidy can use it for KTM Komuter, as well as Rapid On-Demand and Kumpool. Select KTM Komuter in the NINE app, then choose NINE as the payment method in KTMB Mobile or KITS Style when buying an eligible ticket or travel pass. The programme is reported to run through December 2026, but current application availability and remaining places have not been confirmed.
What changed, and which services are covered?
KTM Komuter was added to the subsidy with immediate effect on 1 October 2026. The scheme previously covered the demand-responsive services Rapid On-Demand and Kumpool. The expanded coverage includes Klang Valley and Northern Komuter services, as well as the Southern Shuttle Service. Media Selangor reported the expansion, and BERNAMA also reported the change.

Reported Klang Valley routes include Batu Caves–Pulau Sebang and Tanjung Malim–Pelabuhan Klang; Northern routes include Ipoh–Butterworth and Padang Besar–Butterworth. How to use the subsidy for a KTM Komuter ticket
- Apply through NINE. Select KTM Komuter as the service for the subsidy. Approval is required before spending the credit.
- Receive the monthly credit. The RM30 subsidy is credited to the NINE e-wallet for an approved recipient.
- Buy through a KTMB app. In KTMB Mobile or KITS Style, select NINE as the payment method when purchasing an eligible KTM Komuter ticket or travel pass.
The reported redemption flow is app-based; it does not establish that the credit can be used for tickets bought through other channels. For specific journey eligibility, follow the service and payment options displayed in the apps.
Who is eligible?
BERNAMA’s 1 October 2026 report says eligibility is based on being a registered Selangor voter, rather than on a person’s home address or workplace. That is the latest reported eligibility point accompanying the KTM expansion.

Earlier scheme guidance, published by Media Selangor on 25 June 2026, also listed Malaysian citizenship, being at least 18, having a smartphone, and living in an area with public transport access. It said higher-learning students could apply, while primary and secondary pupils could not. Those are earlier published criteria, not a newly confirmed checklist for the expanded application. How long does it run, and are applications still open?
BERNAMA reports that the programme is scheduled to run through December 2026 and has 50,000 subsidy quotas. The available reports do not confirm whether new applications are open on 3 October 2026 or how many places remain. An earlier application deadline should not be treated as proof of current availability; check NINE for the live application status.

What happens to unused credit?
Media Selangor’s 25 June 2026 FAQ report said unused monthly credit expires rather than rolling over, and that two consecutive months without using the subsidy may lead to termination. Those conditions were reported before KTM Komuter was added. Confirm the current NINE terms for the expanded scheme before relying on them.
