Scout Campers says its smallest hard-wall camper, the Tuktut, is sized for compact trucks including the Ford Maverick. That is Scout’s fitment claim—not an independent installation or safety test—so Maverick owners should verify the payload and bed fit for their exact truck before ordering.
What is the Scout Tuktut?
The Tuktut is Scout Campers’ smallest hard-wall pickup camper. Scout describes it as suitable for compact and midsize trucks, specifically including the Ford Maverick. Its published dry weight is 577 lb, and its starting price is $17,990, according to Scout’s product page accessed in 2026: Scout Tuktut product details.
Those are manufacturer-published figures, not an independent weighing or market price survey. The dry weight is also not the full loaded weight: equipment, options, cargo and other items carried in the truck add weight.
How does the Tuktut compare with the Maverick’s bed?
Scout lists the Tuktut’s exterior dimensions as 110 in long, 72 1/4 in wide and 74 1/2 in high. Its bed dimensions are 47 1/2 by 69 5/8 in. Ford lists the 2026 Maverick bed as 54.4 in long and 53.3 in wide. The measurements are not a complete installation check: they do not establish how the camper mounts to a particular truck or whether its overhang, clearances and tie-down arrangement are suitable.

The two companies’ published dimensions use different measurement descriptions, so the figures should not be treated as proof that the camper will physically fit or be safely carried. Scout’s FAQ says truck bed size and payload vary by vehicle and directs buyers to follow the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations: Scout Campers FAQ.
Check payload and fit on your specific Maverick
A 2026 Ford Maverick XLT specification page gives a maximum payload of 1,500 lb for a particular 2.0L EcoBoost AWD configuration; that figure does not apply to every Maverick. See Ford’s 2026 Maverick XLT specifications and Ford’s 2026 Maverick model specifications for the relevant configurations.

Before purchase, identify the payload rating for the exact truck and account for the loaded camper and everything else the truck will carry. Ask Scout and your Ford dealer or other qualified installer to confirm the mounting approach, clearances, tie-downs and whether the completed setup stays within the vehicle’s limits. Do not use the XLT figure as a substitute for the rating on your own truck.

Scout’s Tuktut page lists a $17,990 starting price, a $500 deposit and an estimated 3–4 month delivery time. These are changeable manufacturer commercial details, not a guarantee for a particular order. Scout’s October 5, 2026 announcement says 2027 models are available to order and gives a current build-time estimate of 3–4 months. The announcement describes changes to the entry door, heating system, interiors and floorplans, but does not establish that each change applies to every Tuktut build or option. Ask Scout which updates are included in the configuration being quoted.
