The company’s latest published materials describe a $100 fully refundable reservation and say its first production is targeted for 2027, with customer deliveries targeted for 2028. Those dates remain plans, not completed milestones.
How many reservations does Scout Motors have?
MotorTrend reported on March 5, 2026, that 160,000 potential buyers had registered to keep in touch with Scout. That is a dated reported count, not a verified total for October 2026. Scout’s September 2026 production-center update does not publish a newer reservation count. MotorTrend’s March report and Scout’s September update provide the available figures and program context.
Are the 160,000 registrations vehicle orders?
No. The reported figure refers to people registered to keep in touch, and Scout distinguishes a reservation from a later vehicle order. The company describes a $100 reservation as fully refundable; reservation holders will have an opportunity to place an order later. The $100 is a reservation amount, not a vehicle price. Scout’s website describes the reservation and ordering process.
What vehicles and powertrains is Scout planning?
Scout’s planned lineup pairs a full-size Traveler SUV and Terra pickup with a body-on-frame platform. Each model is planned in either a battery-electric configuration or with Harvester, Scout’s gasoline-engine range extender. The company is targeting up to 500 miles of range for Harvester models and estimates 350 miles for battery-electric versions; these are company targets and estimates, not independent test results or finalized production specifications. Scout’s September 2026 update describes the lineup and range figures.

What does Harvester mean?
Harvester is Scout’s name for its extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) configuration: an electric vehicle with a gasoline engine serving as a range extender. Scout says it intends to begin production with this configuration. As of March 2026, the company said more than 85% of its reservations were for Harvester models. Scout’s delivery FAQ gives that reservation mix and the company’s launch plan.
When are Scout vehicles expected to be produced and delivered?
Scout targets initial production in 2027 and customer deliveries in 2028. The company says timing may change, so these dates should be read as targets rather than guarantees. Its public homepage likewise says timing is subject to change. Scout’s delivery FAQ and its homepage state the schedule and qualification.

Will the Traveler or Terra come first?
Scout identifies the Traveler SUV as the first vehicle planned to enter production, ahead of the Terra pickup. As of March 2026, the company said the Traveler accounted for nearly 75% of reservations. That share is a dated company figure, not a current count. Scout’s vehicle-sequence FAQ describes the planned order and reservation mix.
What does the latest factory update show?
Scout says its Blythewood, South Carolina, production center is under construction, with body shop, paint shop, final assembly, training, and supplier-park facilities planned or underway. In June 2026, CEO Scott Keogh described the first vehicle-body welding there as a validation step, not the production of a customer vehicle:

- Measuring approximately 5 × 2.25 × 2.25 inches, this 1:43 scale collectible comes mounted on a black display base inside a Militaria Diecast window box. Designed for collectors aged 14 and up, it’s an outstanding addition for WWII armor and reconnaissance vehicle enthusiasts.
“Today marks another one: the first time welding a vehicle body at our Production Center in Blythewood, South Carolina. No, this isn’t a vehicle that will end up in driveways, campsites, or trailheads. But it is helping us prove something just as important: how we’ll build every Scout vehicle that follows.”
The company’s September update documents continued production-center work, but a validation body alone does not establish that series production or customer deliveries have started. Scout’s production-center update covers the site, while its June 2026 update includes Keogh’s statement.

What is known about the “challenges” in the headline?
The available material confirms the headline-level framing that Keogh was optimistic despite challenges, but it does not establish which specific business, engineering, legal, or market challenges he discussed. It would be misleading to attribute a detailed list to him without the full originating story. What is documented separately is that Scout’s launch schedule remains prospective and its factory work includes validation before customer production.
