There is no confirmed U.S. Land Cruiser pickup announcement from Toyota in the official materials reviewed. Toyota’s current U.S. information separates the Land Cruiser off-road SUV from pickup models such as Tacoma and Tundra. The company’s history does connect the Land Cruiser name to an early pickup, but that lineage is not evidence of a new truck plan.
Has Toyota confirmed a Land Cruiser pickup for the U.S.?
No. Toyota has not confirmed a U.S. Land Cruiser pickup in the official materials reviewed. That is not the same as Toyota ruling one out: the available announcements simply do not establish that such a vehicle is planned, when it might arrive, or what it would be like.
The specific rumor’s origin is also unresolved. No reliable reporting could be tied to this exact claim in the material reviewed, so it should not be attributed to a publication, insider, or Toyota announcement.
What Toyota has actually announced
The U.S. Land Cruiser is an SUV
Toyota’s August 2023 announcement described the 2024 Land Cruiser as a hybrid off-road vehicle on the TNGA-F global truck platform. Its i-FORCE MAX powertrain was rated at 326 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque, with towing capacity of up to 6,000 pounds. Those are specifications for the SUV, not a pickup. Toyota’s September 2025 announcement described the 2026 Land Cruiser as a body-on-frame 250 Series off-roader built on TNGA-F, with a starting MSRP of $57,200 and the same stated 326 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque. Toyota’s U.S. pickups are listed separately
Toyota’s truck-family page presents Tacoma and Tundra as pickup products and Land Cruiser in its SUV lineup. Its historical account associates the Land Cruiser name with a pickup version of an early Toyota truck offering. That connection helps explain why the idea may sound plausible, but it does not show that Toyota is developing a modern U.S. Land Cruiser pickup. Toyota Trucks Family.
The Land Cruiser FJ is a separate announcement
Toyota Motor Corporation announced the Land Cruiser FJ on October 20, 2025, as a new model in the Land Cruiser lineup, alongside the 300 Series, 70 Series, and 250 Series. The announcement gave a planned Japan launch around mid-2026. It does not confirm a U.S. launch or describe the FJ as a pickup, so it should not be treated as evidence for this rumor. Why the rumor needs careful wording
“May finally build” describes a possibility, not a product announcement. Toyota’s history supplies context for the Land Cruiser name, and the current SUV sits on a truck platform, but neither fact establishes a pickup’s development or U.S. availability. Until Toyota announces one, details such as a launch date, price, engine, payload, bed dimensions, and towing rating are unknown—not specifications that can be inferred from the SUV.
For now, shoppers choosing among Toyota’s confirmed vehicles should distinguish the Land Cruiser SUV from Tacoma and Tundra pickups by body style and intended use. The official Land Cruiser figures above cannot be used as a like-for-like pickup comparison.
