The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 and Kawasaki Vulcan S are both middleweight cruisers, but their published specifications and approach to rider fit differ. The Super Meteor pairs a 648cc parallel twin with a low-slung seat and laid-back stance; Kawasaki’s 2026 U.S. Vulcan S has a 649cc engine and adjustable seat, footpegs, and handlebar. Neither set of specifications proves which is more comfortable or better to ride. Shortlist the one that suits your priorities, then compare same-year local quotes and arrange a test ride.
How do their engines and published outputs compare?
Both motorcycles use two-cylinder engines close in displacement, but their manufacturers publish output in different units and at different engine speeds. Those figures are not a substitute for a controlled, same-condition comparison of acceleration or feel on the road.
| Model and market | Engine | Published output | Transmission |
|---|---|---|---|
| Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, manufacturer product specifications | 648cc parallel twin | 47PS and 52.3Nm | Not stated on the cited U.S. product page; see Royal Enfield’s U.S. Super Meteor 650 page and technical PDF. |
| Kawasaki Vulcan S, 2026 U.S. model | 649cc liquid-cooled two-cylinder | 60hp at 7,500rpm and 46.5lb-ft at 6,600rpm | Six-speed |
Royal Enfield describes the Super Meteor as a cruiser with a low-slung seat and laid-back stance. Its technical PDF calls it “the definitive cruiser,” a statement of the manufacturer’s own positioning, not an independent riding assessment. Kawasaki’s 2026 U.S. specifications and pricing are on its 2026 Vulcan S page.
Which bike offers more ways to adjust rider fit?
Kawasaki explicitly lists adjustable seat, footpegs, and handlebar, with 18 possible configurations. That gives buyers a defined set of contact-point adjustments to try during a showroom visit or test ride. It also lists a seven-position rear preload adjuster. Kawasaki says ABS is available; check that the specific motorcycle you are offered has it.

- Made using the highest quality components and materials
- Test for durability and safety
Royal Enfield’s India specification page lists the Super Meteor’s seat height as 740mm and describes its low-slung seat and relaxed stance. A published seat-height number cannot establish whether the bike will feel comfortable for a particular rider, and the cited page does not describe an equivalent adjustable-contact-point system. See the Royal Enfield India Super Meteor 650 page.
What to check in person
- Sit on each exact model and trim; assess how easily you can place your feet and reach the controls.
- On the Vulcan S, try the available contact-point configurations and ask the dealer what adjustments are fitted or possible on that bike.
- Ask whether the motorcycle has ABS and confirm the equipment on the specific unit, rather than relying on a general model listing.
- On a test ride, pay attention to seat comfort, reach to the bars and pegs, and how the bike feels in the riding you actually do. Published specifications do not settle those questions.
What equipment and touring details are established?
The Kawasaki U.S. listing identifies ABS as an available option and a rear preload adjuster with seven positions. Royal Enfield’s India page lists a 15.7L tank capacity, approximately 3.1L reserve, and 14.5L usable volume. These are market-specific published details, not a basis for declaring a range winner: the cited material does not establish a comparable, verified Vulcan S tank figure or controlled fuel-consumption results.

Treat that as market-specific equipment information: check local availability, the exact package and price with a dealer, and whether the communication system fits the helmet you intend to use. Details are on the India product page.
How should you compare prices?
Prices below are not directly comparable: Kawasaki’s figures are for the 2026 U.S. model, while Royal Enfield’s listed rupee prices are India ex-showroom Chennai prices. They do not represent matching markets or on-road totals.

- Some motorcycles do more than carry you forward. This cruiser-style model shows sculpted muscle lines across its nostalgic and rugged silhouette, built for the long road ahead.
- Movement exposes the inner workings. Push the bike forward and watch the pistons in the V-twin engine move with the wheels, adding subtle motion to the model.
- Realism shows in the details. Metallic painted parts highlight the engine and exhaust pipes, while printed gauges add precision, giving the bike a hard-edged feel.
- The character of a motorcycle lives in the small elements. High handlebars, a dual seat, and wide rear panniers infuse attitude and presence into the bike model.
- Whether displayed on a desk, set on a shelf, or shared as a meaningful gift, this model carries the spirit of the ride for those who appreciate the rhythm of a motorcycle engine.
| Model and market | Published price | What the figure includes or excludes |
|---|---|---|
| Kawasaki Vulcan S, 2026 U.S. | $7,649 non-ABS; $8,149 ABS | Kawasaki states a separate $685 destination charge. Ask the dealer for the full local price and applicable taxes and fees. |
| Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, India, ex-showroom Chennai | Astral: ₹4,05,988; Interstellar: ₹4,22,972; Celestial: ₹4,39,960 | These are Chennai ex-showroom prices, not on-road prices. Local taxes, registration, insurance, and other charges may affect the amount payable. |
| Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, U.S. | Varies by model year and dealer | Royal Enfield’s U.S. page warns that MSRP excludes destination and handling, tax, title, license, registration, and accessories, and that dealer prices may vary. |
For a meaningful decision, request written, out-the-door quotes for the same model year and market. Specify trim, ABS, destination or freight, dealer charges, taxes, registration, and any accessories so that differences are visible rather than hidden in different quote formats. Check current stock and exact equipment with local dealers.
