Spy photographs published in January 2025 show an adventure-style Royal Enfield development motorcycle reported as a Himalayan 650. They confirm that a test bike was photographed, not that Royal Enfield has announced a production model. As of October 4, 2026, the official sources checked do not confirm a launch date or final specifications.
What the spy photos show
New Atlas’s January 13, 2025 report describes a round headlight, adventure-style front bodywork, two-section seat, single upswept exhaust, apparent rectangular TFT display, long bash plate and dual front brake discs. Those are observations from photographs of a development bike; they do not establish which features, if any, will appear on a production motorcycle.
The report also speculated about details such as tubed tires and greater weight than the Himalayan 450. Neither is confirmed by the images as a final specification.
Is Royal Enfield making a Himalayan 650?
The photos are evidence of a test motorcycle identified by New Atlas as a Himalayan 650, but the checked manufacturer sources do not confirm that the bike will reach production. Royal Enfield’s official EICMA 2025 announcement named the Himalayan Mana Black Edition and Bullet 650 among its showcased models, but did not announce a Himalayan 650. The company’s India motorcycle listing, checked October 4, 2026, and Eicher Motors’ May 2026 business update likewise did not identify a Himalayan 650 launch.

This means those sources do not confirm a production model; it does not prove Royal Enfield has made no statement through any other channel.
When might it launch?
New Atlas suggested the motorcycle might reach dealerships as early as autumn 2025, while describing the timing as uncertain. That was a forecast made in January 2025, not a manufacturer announcement, and it is not a current release date. The official sources listed above provide no confirmed launch timing.

What engine and power might it have?
New Atlas suggested the prototype could use Royal Enfield’s 648 cc parallel twin, by analogy with the company’s existing 650 motorcycles, and estimated roughly 47 horsepower. Those are predictions, not confirmed Himalayan 650 figures. No official technical sheet for the proposed model appears in the checked manufacturer sources.

The Himalayan 450 is an existing 452 cc model and the successor to the earlier 411 single-cylinder Himalayan, according to New Atlas’s report and Royal Enfield’s current model listing. A twin-cylinder Himalayan could occupy a different role, but there is not enough confirmed information to compare the two bikes’ performance, weight, touring ability, off-road suitability, passenger or luggage capacity, equipment, price or availability.

Royal Enfield Chief of Design Mark Wells told MCN in 2024, as quoted by New Atlas: “There’s absolutely no doubt – and I’m not saying anything I shouldn’t here – in that it’s the most asked-for product,” This indicates reported customer interest, not a production decision or launch announcement.
