ALSO is the standalone micromobility company spun out of Rivian in spring 2025. Its first major product reveal, in October 2025, was the TM-B, a modular pedal-assist electric bike. ALSO also unveiled four-wheel pedal-assist vehicles and a connected helmet, while retaining reported ties to Rivian. The TM-B’s launch schedule moved from an initial spring 2026 target to summer after supply-chain delays; later reports said Launch Edition shipments were beginning, but do not independently confirm customer deliveries.
What is ALSO, and how is it connected to Rivian?
ALSO began as a secret internal micromobility project at Rivian in 2022. It became a standalone company in spring 2025, with TechCrunch reporting an initial $105 million backing from Eclipse Ventures. The separation made ALSO a distinct company, not an e-bike division still operating inside Rivian.
The split did not sever all ties. ALSO’s October 2025 launch announcement described it as a Rivian spinout with an in-house vehicle technology stack. In August 2026, TechCrunch reported that Rivian retained a minority stake and that Rivian founder and CEO RJ Scaringe sat on ALSO’s board. The company’s origins and reported continuing relationship explain the Rivian connection without making the TM-B a Rivian-branded vehicle.
ALSO’s president Chris Yu later described the project’s origins in the company’s December 2025 retrospective: “Just 12 months ago, we were a small, still-secret program within Rivian, quietly building our ground-up EV platform optimized for smaller-than-car applications.” ALSO, “2025 mapped and the road ahead,” December 29, 2025.

TM-Q: four-wheel pedal-assist vehicles
ALSO also unveiled consumer and commercial versions of the TM-Q, four-wheel pedal-assist vehicles based on related technology. The commercial variant was presented for dense-area logistics and fleet use. ALSO announced a collaboration with Amazon on a customized pedal-assist e-cargo quad intended to expand Amazon’s micromobility fleet. That announcement establishes a collaboration, not a completed deployment or proof that Amazon sells the TM-B.
Alpha Wave Helmet
The company announced the Alpha Wave Helmet with integrated lights and audio features, alongside its claimed Release Layer System for rotational-impact protection. The announcement is not independent comparative helmet testing, so the protection claim should be understood as ALSO’s claim rather than a verified advantage over other helmets.

How do the TM-B versions compare?
TechCrunch’s October 2025 launch coverage reported three versions. The quoted prices and ranges below are launch-time figures: the ranges were company estimates, not independent test results. Availability and delivery timing subsequently changed.
| Version | Launch-time price | Company-reported estimated range | Other reported distinctions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Launch Edition | $4,500 | Up to 100 miles | Launch trim; later shipping reports focused on this edition. |

TechCrunch also reported a top speed of 28 mph and about 77 pounds of cargo capacity with the utility frame. Those reported specifications do not establish real-world range or cargo performance under particular rider, terrain, weather, or load conditions. The launch coverage is at TechCrunch’s October 22, 2025 TM-B report.

When was the TM-B expected to ship?
The delivery plan changed between the October 2025 reveal and the first shipping reports in 2026. In the launch announcement, ALSO targeted spring 2026 deliveries. The company later attributed a move to summer to global supply-chain pressures affecting raw materials and electronic components.
- October 22, 2025: ALSO announced the TM-B and said deliveries were expected in spring 2026.
- June–July 2026: ALSO cited supply-chain stress and revised the Launch Edition timing to summer. TechCrunch reported that units had begun shipping from the manufacturer to a U.S. warehouse, with deliveries expected from early August through September.
- August 19, 2026: TechCrunch reported that Launch Edition shipments were beginning and that initial Performance and Standard deliveries were expected in fall.
These reports describe shipment status and forecasts, not independently verified completed customer deliveries. The August report also covered ALSO’s financing and product plans: TechCrunch, August 19, 2026.
How has ALSO’s business expanded beyond e-bikes?
The TM-B was the headline consumer product at ALSO’s October 2025 reveal, but the company has described a broader platform for smaller electric vehicles. The TM-Q collaboration with Amazon is a commercial micromobility project; a separate DoorDash agreement reported in August 2026 concerns autonomous delivery vehicles. The latter points to expansion into delivery technology, not evidence that autonomous vehicles have entered service at scale.
TechCrunch reported in August 2026 that ALSO had raised $455 million since founding, including a newly announced $150 million Series D led by Prysm Capital. The article also reported a $200 million round led by Greenoaks a few months earlier. These are reported financing totals and rounds, not product revenue or proof of fleet deployment. The original $105 million reported in connection with the 2025 spinout is an earlier figure, not ALSO’s current cumulative funding total.
