Rivian’s current U.S. R2 lineup starts at $44,990 for the Standard, but that entry version is listed for 2027, with no delivery month specified. The R2 available now is the $57,990 Performance; the $53,990 Premium is scheduled for late 2026. Prices exclude applicable taxes and fees.
Rivian R2 prices and expected availability
Rivian’s current consumer-facing U.S. page lists three R2 trims. The listed timing is not a guaranteed delivery date, and Rivian says prices, options and displayed features can change. Rivian’s R2 page identifies prices as starting prices and notes that taxes and fees are additional.

Rivian presents these as U.S. prices. Its range figures are manufacturer estimates, not independent test results; the company cautions that not every figure is an official EPA value and that real-world capability varies with configuration, tires, drive mode, load, weather and other conditions.
Why the $45,000 R2 is a wait
The “$45,000 version” refers to the entry Standard, not a separate trim currently listed at exactly $45,000. Rivian’s current page puts the Standard’s starting price at $44,990—a $10 difference from the rounded headline figure—and lists it for 2027 without a specific month.

Rivian’s March 2026 lineup announcement was more specific about the rollout it expected at that time: it listed a $48,490 Standard Long Range rear-wheel-drive version for the first half of 2027, followed by an additional Standard variant starting around $45,000 in late 2027. The current consumer page now lists the $44,990 Standard for 2027 but does not say when in the year it will arrive. The newer page supports the 2027 timing, not a confirmed month or a promise that it will arrive in late 2027. Rivian’s March 2026 announcement is the source for the earlier, more detailed forecast.
What each R2 trim includes
Standard: the lowest starting price
The base Standard is listed with 275 miles of estimated range, 350 hp, single-motor rear-wheel drive, a standard interior and audio system, and 19-inch all-season wheels. Rivian also lists Long Range rear-wheel-drive and Long Range all-wheel-drive configurations as options; the $44,990 starting price is for the base version, not a claim that every configuration costs that amount.

Premium: the middle price and timing
At a $53,990 starting price and scheduled for late 2026, Premium is listed with dual-motor all-wheel drive, 450 hp and 330 miles of EPA-estimated range. Its equipment includes a premium interior, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, premium audio, rear drop glass and 20-inch all-season wheels.
Performance: the R2 currently listed as available
The $57,990 Performance is listed as available now. Rivian specifies dual-motor all-wheel drive, 656 hp, 330 miles of EPA-estimated range and a 3.6-second estimated 0–60 mph time. It also has semi-active suspension, a premium interior and audio, rear drop glass and 21-inch all-season wheels. Rivian describes a limited-time Launch Package that includes a tow package, Autonomy+, a launch key fob and an option for Launch Green paint; check the current listing for package availability and configuration details.

How Rivian’s order timing works
Rivian began making the first R2 trim available to order through invitations on June 9, 2026. Its order FAQ says Premium is expected later in 2026 and Standard in 2027, with invitations sent in batches. Rivian said confirmed orders could be delivered in two to six weeks, depending on configuration availability and delivery scheduling; that window applies to confirmed orders, not to the wait for a trim that has not yet opened for ordering. Reservation timestamp and delivery location were primary factors in invitation timing, and Rivian said current owners and customers with expiring leases could receive consideration. - Want the lowest listed starting price? The Standard starts at $44,990, but Rivian lists it for 2027.
- Want an R2 sooner? Performance is the trim Rivian currently lists as available, at $57,990.
- Want a middle-priced R2? Premium starts at $53,990 and is listed for late 2026.
These are U.S. prices. Rivian said Canadian specifications and pricing would come closer to that market’s launch, so the U.S. figures should not be treated as Canadian pricing.
