What caused the crash?
Crash.net attributed to Hammond the suggestion that her tyres had not reached working temperature. That is a possible explanation she suggested, not an officially established cause: the available reporting does not cite an investigation determining why the car crashed.
What did Izzy Hammond say afterward?
BBC Sport quoted Hammond describing the impact: “It wasn’t a small crash. If you’re going to crash, you’ve got to really crash.” She also recalled thinking, “My first thought when I was say in that wall was ‘oh my god, everyone’s watching, my dad’s watching.” BBC Sport reported that she asked, “Can someone just tell him I’m ok?”
