Rhön Camp says this arrangement preserves standing height inside while the upper bed is in use. The roof and layout are manufacturer-described features, not independently tested results.
What makes the New Ultimate’s roof layout different?
Rather than putting the upstairs bed directly above the main cabin, the Freescape sleeping roof deploys its 140 × 200 cm platform to the side. Rhön Camp says the arrangement leaves permanent standing height in the interior, so the sleeping area can be available without taking away the van’s usable standing space. The company calls this distinctive for the vehicle class; that is its claim, not an independent comparison.
Rhön Camp also lists an 80 mm hybrid mattress and an aerodynamically optimized roof shell. The roof’s stated dimensions are 220 × 260 cm, and Freescape gives the open vehicle height as 320 cm. Those roof measurements come from Freescape’s published specifications.
Inflation and roof specifications
Freescape lists an integrated compressor and says inflation takes under four minutes. It specifies tube pressure above 7.5 psi and an approximate roof-system weight of 70 kg. These are manufacturer-published figures, not independent test measurements. The integrated compressor is part of the described system, so the published description does not call for a separate portable compressor.

Base vehicle and electrical concept
Rhön Camp describes the New Ultimate as based on the VW New Transporter and developed with Freescape. Its advertised gas-free concept includes an underfloor energy architecture, a 3 kW inverter, a 240 Ah solid-state battery and a 50 A charging booster. These are product-page claims; confirm the exact equipment and any options on the specific vehicle being quoted. Rhön Camp notes that images may show optional equipment and directs buyers to its sales team for binding configuration details.
Price and how to compare it
New Atlas reported a €74,990 starting price on February 3, 2026, for a base specification with a 109 hp, front-wheel-drive Transporter. That is a dated launch-price report, not a current binding offer from Rhön Camp; check directly with the company for the price, availability, delivery timing and selected configuration.

When comparing this campervan with another, check the details that materially change the use case and the price:
- Sleeping layout and bed dimensions.
- Whether the roof leaves standing room usable while the upper bed is deployed.
- Base-vehicle generation, engine and drivetrain.
- Which equipment is included and which is optional.
- Energy storage and charging equipment.
- A current, like-for-like quoted price.
Keep model generations separate: the New Ultimate described here is based on the VW New Transporter. Older Rhön Camp Ultimate models based on the T6.1 are not the same vehicle specification, so an older review or test should not be treated as a direct assessment of this model.
