What was revived BSA’s first new model?
It was the Gold Star. In an announcement dated 2 December 2021, BSA said it would reveal its first new model at Motorcycle Live at the NEC Birmingham on Saturday, 4 December. The company presented the motorcycle as a modern classic. BSA’s announcement also quoted Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra describing the bike as a new chapter for the historic brand.
New Atlas published the headline “Revived BSA reveals 2022 Gold Star 650 as first model to enter production” on 6 December 2021. That wording is useful context for how the launch was reported, but it is not evidence of a specific production start date or factory location. The New Atlas report does not, by its headline alone, establish those details.
What are the Gold Star 650’s specifications?
BSA’s current product page describes the Gold Star as a 652 cc modern classic, pairing traditional styling cues with contemporary braking and instrumentation. The layout is deliberately retro in appearance: wire-spoke alloy rims, twin rear shocks and twin-pod analogue dials. The listed components also include Pirelli tyres, Brembo calipers and ABS, with an LCD display integrated into the instrument cluster.
When was the Gold Star announced, and what does “2022” mean?
BSA announced the reveal on 2 December 2021 and presented the motorcycle at Motorcycle Live on 4 December. New Atlas used “2022 Gold Star 650” in its 6 December 2021 headline. Those dates document the announcement and contemporary coverage; they do not independently confirm a precise start of production.

What was the Gold Star’s India launch price?
Mahindra Group’s 15 August 2024 India launch release said the Gold Star would be available at select Indian dealerships from that date, at an introductory price starting at ₹2.99 lakh ex-showroom Delhi.
