The 2024 Shelby American F-150 Baja Raptor R could be equipped with an optional post-title Whipple supercharger package that Shelby rated at more than 900 horsepower. The “GT500 heart” refers to the engine’s lineage: Shelby said the Raptor R uses the same engine that powered the recent-generation Ford Shelby GT500. Neither the 900-plus-hp figure nor the supercharger was standard across every Shelby Baja Raptor.
What “GT500 heart” means
Shelby American’s October 9, 2024 announcement said the Raptor R’s V8 was the same engine that powered the recent-generation Ford Shelby GT500. The 2024 Shelby brochure identifies the supercharged V8 as a 5.2-liter engine. Shelby described the Raptor R as producing over 900 hp with its optional supercharger package; that is a manufacturer-advertised figure, not an independently measured dyno result. Two 2024 Baja Raptor configurations
The 2024 name covered two different configurations. The V6 Baja Raptor and V8 Raptor R should not be treated as one truck with a single output figure.

Shelby said its horsepower figures were climate-adjusted and based on 93-octane fuel. The brochure lists other advertised equipment, including a Shelby by BDS lift, 18-inch Flow Forged wheels and 37-inch mud-terrain tires. These are brochure specifications, not independent evaluations of performance or off-road capability.

What the Raptor R upgrade included—and what it did not guarantee
Shelby described the optional Raptor R upgrade as a 3.8L Whipple supercharger system with a Bengal Red-finished blower and intake manifold. Its announcement also cited a Shelby-tuned Borla exhaust, suspension changes and cooling upgrades. The listed package price was for the Shelby package only: it excluded the base Ford truck. Shelby said packages were available in limited quantities through select Tuscany and Ford dealers in North America, and that pricing and availability could change.
Fuel, availability and warranty qualifications
- Fuel: Shelby based the horsepower rating on 93-octane fuel and required at least 91 octane for supercharged vehicles.
- State availability: The 2024 announcement said the performance upgrade was unavailable in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington. For those states, Shelby described the supercharger as separately sold and installed.
- Warranty: Shelby advertised a three-year/36,000-mile limited warranty for the original owner, including powertrain. It also warned that optional equipment may affect or void the Ford factory powertrain warranty. Confirm the applicable coverage and installation terms with Shelby or a dealer.
- Pricing and equipment: The 2024 package prices were starting prices, excluded the Ford truck and were subject to change; Shelby cautioned that optional equipment may be shown.
Shelby said each vehicle received a serial number for the official Shelby Registry. Because the announcement describes 2024-model-year terms, it does not establish present dealer inventory, current pricing or current warranty conditions.

Do not confuse the 2024 truck with the 2026 lineup
Shelby’s later 2026 model-year information describes a different lineup: up to 555 hp for the EcoBoost Baja Raptor and up to 1,000-plus hp for the Raptor R. Shelby lists 2026 package starting prices of $62,995 and $77,995 respectively, excluding the base Ford Raptor or Raptor R chassis. Its June 25, 2026 announcement identifies the later Raptor R’s engine as a 5.2L Predator V8. Those later advertised outputs and prices do not revise the 2024 truck’s specifications.
