Retrokit sells electric-conversion kits for selected vintage Vespa models. New Atlas reported on February 9, 2025, that the company estimated installation at about four hours; that is a company-reported estimate, not an independently timed result. The maker’s current product pages also say four hours, but there the figure refers to charging time. Neither claim means every Vespa can be converted in four hours.
Which Vespas do the kits fit?
Retrokit lists two configurations, and fitment depends on the scooter’s frame and model. Its Smallframe Sport page names Vespa 50, Primavera 125, ET3 125 and PK models. The Largeframe page covers Vespa 125–200 wide and largeframe models, with PX, GS and GL among its examples. These are maker-listed applications, not a guarantee that every year or variant fits.
Before ordering, use Retrokit’s configurator or confirm the exact model and variant with the seller. Do not assume that displacement or the Vespa name alone establishes compatibility.
What do the two configurations include and claim?
The figures below are specifications published by Retrokit on its current product pages, not independent test results. The company lists a motor, removable battery or batteries, controller and wiring, digital display, charger, mounting hardware, installation guide and type-approval documentation with the kits.

Retrokit lists four-hour charging from a domestic socket for both configurations. That is a charging specification, separate from the installation-time estimate reported by New Atlas. The product pages do not establish real-world range or speed under particular rider, route or weather conditions.
How much does a Retrokit Vespa conversion cost?
The current official shop listings show €4,150 plus VAT for Smallframe Sport and €5,160 plus VAT for Largeframe. The final amount depends on applicable VAT and any other costs relevant to the buyer; the listed kit prices do not settle shipping, import duties or registration expenses. New Atlas reported a US$3,500 starting price on February 9, 2025, attributed to Retrokit founder and CEO Alex Leardini. That is a historical reported price, not a current universal quote.

The official product pages show a 3–4 week shipping estimate for Smallframe Sport and shipping from November 2026 for Largeframe. Availability and delivery timing can change, so confirm both directly before placing an order.
Does the conversion take four hours?
New Atlas’s February 2025 article attributed an approximately four-hour conversion estimate to the company. It did not report an independently timed installation or establish that the time applies to every scooter, installer or vehicle condition. Treat it as a company estimate, not a guaranteed do-it-yourself completion time.

Separately, Retrokit’s current listings specify four hours to charge the battery from a domestic socket. The shared number describes two different things: a reported installation estimate and a maker-listed charging time.

Retrokit’s English shop uses the phrase “100% road legal,” but the product listings describe Italian MIT/NADR type approval and support for the Italian procedure. That does not establish that a converted scooter is automatically legal to register or ride in every country where the company ships.

Confirm with the relevant authority or insurer in the place where the scooter will be used; the available product information does not settle those jurisdiction-specific questions.

What to verify before ordering
- Confirm the scooter’s exact model, frame type and variant against the maker’s fitment information.
- Compare the manufacturer’s stated speed, range and battery arrangement with your needs, while treating those figures as specifications rather than independent test results.
- Ask the seller to confirm the current price, VAT treatment, shipping schedule and any costs not included in the kit listing.
- Check the approval and registration pathway for the country where the scooter will be used, rather than relying on a general road-legal claim.
- Clarify what installation support is available and whether the reported four-hour estimate is relevant to your scooter and installer.
