What Red Bull’s Honda return actually means
Honda Racing Corporation announced on October 1, 2026, that Red Bull will join Honda HRC Castrol as a major partner beginning with the 2027 MotoGP season under a multi-year deal. Honda says Red Bull branding will appear on the next generation of Honda HRC Castrol machines, in the team garage and on rider apparel. The full 2027 livery and machine are due to be unveiled before the season. Honda HRC’s announcement describes a partnership and branding; it does not announce a transfer of KTM technology or a change to Tech3’s manufacturer.

Honda says Red Bull first joined its factory team in 2015 and reports that the partnership produced 45 wins and more than 90 podiums. Those are Honda HRC’s own historical figures, not an independently audited comparison.

On May 16, 2026, Tech3 announced a multi-year agreement to remain KTM’s satellite team from 2027. The team says it will receive factory-supported machinery and technical collaboration, and will contribute to KTM’s four-rider development project. KTM’s announcement and Tech3’s account both describe the renewed KTM relationship.

For context, MotoGP’s January 2026 season launch listed Pedro Acosta and Brad Binder with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, and Enea Bastianini and Maverick Viñales with Red Bull KTM Tech3. All four were set to ride KTM RC16s in 2026. MotoGP’s launch report documents that season’s lineup; the later Tech3 agreement establishes its announced plan from 2027.

These statements establish Red Bull relationships with both Honda HRC and KTM for 2027, alongside Tech3’s announced KTM role. They do not establish whether either sponsorship is exclusive, disclose fees or full commercial terms, or detail any undisclosed technical arrangement. The announcements also do not say how prominent the brands will be on the final liveries.

What the announcements do not say about Tech3
- They do not say Tech3 is leaving KTM for Honda.
- They do not say Honda is receiving KTM technology.
- They do not provide grounds to infer sponsor exclusivity from Red Bull’s two announced relationships.
KTM separately attributes seven MotoGP victories and 38 podiums, including 26 Sprint podiums, to Red Bull KTM machinery with the RC16. Those are KTM-published totals, with the scope stated by the manufacturer, rather than an independent statistical comparison. KTM’s renewal announcement gives the figures.
