That puts Ram $619 above Lexus and GMC just $44 below Ram. But these are make-wide averages—not prices for Ram pickups alone—and the ranking changes from month to month.
What the January 2026 comparison actually measures
The figures are average transaction prices by make. They describe the average price paid for new vehicles sold under each brand in that reporting period. They are not MSRP, a model-specific sticker price, or a direct comparison of a Ram pickup with a Lexus model.
Cox Automotive/Kelley Blue Book’s January 2026 table reports:

Why “the average Ram truck” is not established by these numbers
Ram’s value is for the Ram make overall, not for Ram trucks as a separately reported category. The table does not show which models, trims, or configurations contributed to the average, so it cannot establish the average price of a Ram pickup. Nor does it mean every Ram costs more than every Lexus: averages combine many transactions and conceal the spread between vehicles.
A fair model-to-model comparison would need to match reporting period and price measure, then account for body style, trim, drivetrain, equipment, and incentives. The make-level table does not provide those matched comparisons.

The ranking changes with the month
January is one snapshot, not a permanent price order. Cox Automotive/Kelley Blue Book reported these other make-level ATPs:

Cox Automotive says, “New-vehicle prices typically peak in December.” The month matters: seasonal demand and the mix of vehicles sold can affect a monthly average. The December 2025 figures should not be treated as an annual average or a forecast.

ATP is different from MSRP
For December 2025, Cox Automotive reported a market-wide average new-vehicle transaction price of $50,326 and average MSRP of $52,627. Those are overall-market measures, not Ram, GMC, or Lexus figures. The distinction matters because MSRP is the manufacturer’s suggested price, while ATP reflects transaction prices. The reported make-level ATPs above also exclude applied consumer incentives.

Cox Automotive/Kelley Blue Book reported an average transaction price of $70,150 for the GMC Sierra in August 2025. That is a model-level figure for one GMC nameplate and one month; it should not be substituted for GMC’s make-wide average or presented as a matched comparison with all Ram vehicles or Lexus.

How to read the headline claim
- Supported for January 2026: Ram’s make-wide ATP was higher than Lexus’s, and GMC’s was nearly the same as Ram’s.
- Not supported by that table: that the average Ram truck specifically costs more than a Lexus, or that every Ram pickup costs more than a Lexus vehicle.
- Not a stable ranking: December 2025 had GMC above Ram, while June 2025 had Ram below GMC.
