What is the Jaguar Type 01?
Announced on 7 October 2026, the Type 01 is Jaguar’s first production car of a new generation: an all-electric luxury four-door GT built on the dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). Its name reflects three ideas, according to Jaguar: “Type” nods to the marque’s predecessors, “0” represents zero tailpipe emissions, and “1” identifies the first model in the new generation. Jaguar’s launch announcement presents it as a production-car reveal, rather than another concept announcement.
Is the Type 01 really Jaguar’s most powerful road car?
That is Jaguar’s claim. The company says the Type 01’s tri-motor system produces up to 1,030 PS (approximately 1,016 bhp) and 1,365 Nm of torque. Jaguar quotes 0–62 mph in 3.2 seconds and 62–112 mph in 4.0 seconds.
These are claimed specifications and acceleration times, not results from an independent test of a completed production car. Electrifying.com’s launch-day report describes exposure to a prototype limited to 800 hp; the reviewer had not tested the finished car’s range or charging performance. That prototype account does not establish the production car’s final real-world performance.

How far can the Jaguar Type 01 travel on a charge?
Jaguar lists a 118 kWh usable battery and estimates up to 450 miles under the WLTP test cycle. For the US, it gives an expected EPA range of up to 400 miles. The company also estimates up to 320 miles at sustained highway speed. These figures are estimates ahead of full certification, not certified or independently measured range results.
Jaguar says the Type 01 uses an 850-volt electrical architecture and can add up to 200 miles in as little as 13 minutes when connected to a 350 kW DC charger. That is a manufacturer claim, and the stated time is conditional: actual range and charging depend on factors including driving style, weather, vehicle load, wheel fitment, route, battery condition and the charger.
What else is Jaguar highlighting?
The Type 01 is presented as a grand tourer as well as a high-powered EV. Jaguar points to a low roofline, long bonnet, 23-inch wheels and active aerodynamic elements, along with a claimed drag coefficient of 0.23 and 50:50 weight distribution. These are manufacturer-stated design and engineering details, not independent assessments of the car’s handling or efficiency.
Jaguar also says more than 360 patent applications are associated with the Type 01’s engineering. That refers to applications, not 360 granted patents. To support its focus on long-distance usability, JLR cites analysis of CAVA customer-journey data covering 920,000 of its vehicles across 51 markets from October 2023 to October 2024. JLR says 99.7% of those journeys could be completed without interruption. This is the company’s analysis of its wider vehicle data, not an independent or Type 01-specific study.

When can you order the Jaguar Type 01?
At the 7 October 2026 announcement, Jaguar expected orders to open in early 2027 and first client deliveries in the second half of 2027. Those dates were forecasts; the announcement did not establish that ordering or deliveries had begun. Jaguar had not announced a price or a final market-by-market equipment list.
