Radica’s MoonLander is a hard-shell, truck-specific camper topper built around an unusual trade-off: side pods extend over the bed rails to create an east-to-west lofted sleeping platform, while removable bed panels restore cargo space when you need the truck for hauling. It offers a fixed, weather-protective sleeping setup without the form of a conventional large slide-in camper—but it is not a stand-up living space, and its fit, weight and price depend on the truck and options.
What the MoonLander is—and how it works
The MoonLander is a hard-shell topper with side pods that widen the sleeping area beyond the pickup bed rails. Instead of sleeping lengthwise, occupants sleep east to west across the bed. Radica offers slim and full side pods; its published sleeping lengths vary by truck class and pod choice.
A lofted bed frame sits above the truck bed. The two platform panels can be stacked or removed to open up cargo room. Radica describes this as providing “massive amounts of space to haul,” but that is the manufacturer’s characterization, not an independent cargo-capacity measurement. The panels make the core compromise practical: keep a ready sleeping surface installed, or take it out when the bed needs to carry larger items.
That combination is why the MoonLander sits between a conventional cap and a larger camper as a design proposition. It adds a fixed shell and sleeping platform while retaining the truck bed’s cargo function in a different configuration. The available evidence does not establish a like-for-like performance comparison with competing caps, pop-up campers or slide-ins.

Dimensions, sleeping length and weight
Radica’s current product page gives the following approximate sleeping lengths and weight ranges. Weight varies with options, and dimensions vary by truck model, so these class figures are not a substitute for a specification for your exact build.

These are Radica’s published product specifications, checked October 4, 2026. The listed interior height from the bed frame to the roof is 33.25 inches; exterior height above the bed rails is 36 inches. That interior clearance is for lying or sitting rather than standing.

Before ordering, get the weight and dimensions for the truck-specific configuration, including selected pods and options. Compare the installed camper’s weight, occupants, gear and any other cargo with the truck’s payload rating; the MoonLander’s class range alone cannot determine whether a particular loaded truck is within its limits.

Radica’s FAQ says the base price includes the hard shell, slim side pods, reinforced roof, lift-up door, locking T-handles and internal bolt latch, full-size lofted bed frame, standard brake light and side markers, truck-bed clamps, and in-shop installation. The product page describes twin, full and queen platform choices, removable bed panels, optional R7 insulation and lighting, and separately selectable mattresses and accessories. Radica describes the roof as reinforced honeycomb and says it supports 500 lb while stationary. That statement applies to the stationary roof as described by the manufacturer; it is not a moving-load rating or a rating for the truck’s total payload.

Radica’s 2026 refresh description cites integrated weather flaps, a bolt latch on each side of the door, and braided wiring held by proprietary VHB-mounted clips. These are manufacturer-stated design updates, not independent durability findings.
What to compare before choosing one
The MoonLander’s design may suit a truck owner who wants a hard shell and a dedicated sleeping platform but also wants the option to clear the bed for cargo. Whether that trade works for you depends on your truck, how you camp, and how often you haul.

- Cargo use: Consider how often you will remove or stack the bed panels, and what cargo must fit beneath or in place of the platform.
- Payload: Obtain the weight for the exact build, then account for passengers, gear and other truck loads against your vehicle’s payload limit.
- Interior space: The published 33.25-inch clearance is not standing height. Decide whether a sleep-focused setup meets your needs.
- Fitment and installation: The product is truck-specific, and the FAQ lists in-shop installation as part of the base price. Confirm fitment, installation arrangements and included equipment for your vehicle.
- Configured cost: Use the bed-category starting price as a baseline, then confirm the total with selected platform, insulation, lighting, mattress and other options.
Radica describes the design as aerodynamic and says it has minimal effect on fuel mileage, but the reviewed product information does not provide a test method or measured fuel-economy result. Treat those statements as manufacturer claims, not a quantified MPG expectation.
