Rad Power Bikes CEO Phil Molyneux was out by March 7, 2025, when GeekWire reported that he was “stepping away from the company.” CFO Stephanie Roberts was interim CEO as Rad searched for a successor. Rad appointed Kathi Lentzsch CEO six days later, amid a shift toward physical retail. The company has since changed ownership, and the sources available here do not establish who currently holds Rad’s CEO title.
What happened to Phil Molyneux at Rad Power Bikes?
GeekWire reported on March 7, 2025, that Molyneux was no longer Rad Power Bikes’ CEO, citing confirmation from a company spokesperson. The spokesperson said he was “stepping away from the company.” GeekWire reported that CFO Stephanie Roberts was serving as interim CEO while the company looked for a permanent leader. Molyneux had joined Rad in November 2022, succeeding founder Mike Radenbaugh, who remained chairman at the time, according to GeekWire’s March 7, 2025 report.
The departure came alongside another round of layoffs. Rad did not disclose the number of employees affected or its current headcount in GeekWire’s report. The company attributed the cuts to a strategic pivot toward physical retail and a reduction in teams supporting direct-to-consumer operations.
Who replaced Molyneux?
On March 13, 2025, Rad announced Kathi Lentzsch as its CEO. The company described a change in strategy from direct-to-consumer sales toward physical retail and retail partners. Rad’s announcement highlighted Lentzsch’s previous executive experience at Bartell Drugs, Pottery Barn, Pier 1 Imports and Cost Plus World Market. Those credentials and the strategy description are the company’s account, not an independent assessment. The appointment announcement is available from Rad Power Bikes.

That appointment answers who succeeded Molyneux in March 2025. It does not establish who leads the Rad brand today: a later asset acquisition changed the company’s ownership, and the available acquisition announcement does not name a current Rad-specific CEO.
How Rad’s ownership changed after the leadership shakeup
On March 5, 2026, Life EV announced that it had completed a court-approved acquisition of specified Rad assets, including the brand, intellectual property, inventory and certain operating assets. Life EV said it would continue retail operations under the Rad brand in the United States and planned to expand retail in selected markets. The announcement also described plans to move production to the United States; it did not establish that the transition had been completed. Life EV’s announcement identifies Rob Provost as Life EV’s CEO and Jim Brown as its president, but does not identify either as Rad’s CEO.
The ownership change followed the former Rad Power Bikes, Inc.’s Chapter 11 filing on December 15, 2025. Rad’s warranty page says the brand came under new ownership on February 27, 2026. These dates describe distinct events: the bankruptcy filing, the date Rad gives for new ownership, and Life EV’s announcement of its completed asset acquisition.
What the shakeup says about Rad’s business pressures
The March 2025 changes connected leadership, staffing and sales strategy: Rad said it was reducing direct-to-consumer teams while emphasizing physical retail and retail partners. The available reporting does not disclose the layoff count, so the scale of that round cannot be stated reliably.

The company had attracted substantial investment during its growth period. GeekWire reported that Rad raised more than $300 million in 2021 and cited PitchBook for a $1.65 billion valuation that year. Those are historical figures, not measures of the company’s current value. Rad’s own company history says it raised $320,000 within 30 days to begin building the RadRover and reports more than 650,000 riders; the page does not specify the year for those figures, and the rider number is an undated company-reported total.

The leadership story is separate from the practical question of whether a particular bike is covered. Rad’s warranty information says Rad Life Mobility has no obligation to provide warranty or other service for products purchased before December 15, 2025, subject to the stated bankruptcy process. Current terms identify Rad Life Mobility as the seller for U.S. consumer purchases. Do not assume those current terms apply to older purchases, Canadian buyers or third-party products.
For a specific bike, check the purchase date, seller, country and applicable warranty terms, then contact the relevant party identified in the terms. The materials cited here do not establish that every pre-December 15, 2025 purchase is automatically denied a claim; they state that Rad Life Mobility has no obligation to provide that service, subject to the bankruptcy process.
