Quadrofoil is a two-person electric hydrofoiling watercraft—not a road car or a conventional personal watercraft. Its Q2A and Q2S models use submerged foils to lift the hull above the water as speed builds. The manufacturer advertises about 40 km of range for the Q2A and up to 80 km for the Q2S, but actual range depends on conditions.
What is a Quadrofoil?
Quadrofoil is a Slovenian-made electric watercraft for two people. The phrase “sportscar for the water” refers to its automotive-inspired cockpit and steering, not to its legal or engineering classification. Quadrofoil describes its steering as coordinating the motor and foils for agile control. Quadrofoil’s official site
How does the hydrofoil work?
The Q2 family uses four C-shaped foils beneath the craft. As the vessel accelerates, the submerged wing-like surfaces generate lift and raise the hull above the water. The manufacturer says the transition onto the foils occurs at a little over 12 km/h (6.5 knots). It also lists a 7 m turning radius, attributing the maneuverability to simultaneous foil and motor control. These are manufacturer figures, not independently verified measurements in the available sources. Quadrofoil FAQ Quadrofoil performance information
Q2A vs. Q2S: specifications and advertised range
Both models are listed for two passengers and a maximum acceptable load of 170 kg, including passengers and baggage. That limit matters when assessing whether two occupants and their gear fit within the stated capacity.

These are figures published by Quadrofoil on its Q2A model page and Q2S model page. The company warns that range and operating time vary with wind, water surface and other external factors, so the stated distances are not guaranteed trip ranges. The pages list approximate overall dimensions of 3.53 m long, 2.59 m wide with foils, and 2.085 m high with foils.
Charging and battery details
Quadrofoil says the batteries recharge in three to four hours from a standard 110V or 220V outlet using its supplied special charger. It also describes a battery management system that monitors battery cells. These are manufacturer statements; the actual charging time may depend on configuration and conditions. Where can you operate a Quadrofoil?
The company identifies the craft’s design category as Category D, for inland or sheltered coastal waters, and says local and national requirements apply. Its FAQ specifies a minimum water depth above 1 m. Check the conditions and rules for the specific waterway before operating; the manufacturer’s broad statements about licensing or registration cannot establish what applies in every country, state or location. What does “ecologically sound” mean here?
Quadrofoil promotes electric operation as producing no onboard CO2 emissions while underway, with little noise and small waves. Those are operational product claims. The sources cited here do not establish the craft’s lifecycle emissions or provide an independent comparative study of noise, waves or environmental impact. Electric operation at the vessel therefore should not be confused with a finding of zero environmental impact over the product’s life. Q2A model page Q2S model page

What to know before buying
- Choose between the models based on the listed power and battery capacity, while treating range and run-time figures as variable manufacturer claims.
- Check the 170 kg total payload against the combined weight of passengers and baggage.
- Confirm water depth, permitted operating area, licensing and registration requirements for the intended waterway.
- Ask the manufacturer or an authorized seller about current regional availability, pricing, warranty and service arrangements; the cited official pages do not establish those details.
Quadrofoil’s site lists the Q2A, Q2S and a Q2S Limited Edition. The company says 100 Limited Edition units were produced and sold out within a few months; this is a manufacturer statement, not an independently verified sales figure. Quadrofoil official site Q2S Limited Edition
