The Unfair Advantage is a discreet urban e-bike concept reported by New Atlas in October 2023. Its slim down-tube battery, compact rear hub motor, hidden cables and conventional diamond-frame shape were designed to keep it looking closer to a regular bicycle than an obviously electric one. The report described planned specifications and a proposed crowdfunding launch; it does not establish whether the bike is now available.
How the Unfair Advantage hides its electric hardware
New Atlas described the Unfair Advantage as a bike being developed by Latvian startup QU-ET. Its understated appearance comes from familiar bicycle proportions rather than a bulky battery mounted on the frame: the battery is integrated into the down tube, while a small motor sits in the rear hub. Internal cable routing and an upright diamond-frame silhouette further reduce the visual cues associated with an e-bike.
That design may appeal to riders who prefer a conventional-looking city bike, but appearance alone does not establish theft resistance, anonymity or any particular level of security.
Reported specifications and equipment
The figures below are those New Atlas reported in 2023, citing QU-ET. The underlying manufacturer specification sheet and independent test results were not available in that report, so they should be treated as reported claims rather than verified measurements.

The reported 250-Wh battery is relatively modest in capacity, but the available information does not provide enough detail about riding conditions, rider weight, terrain, assist use or testing method to evaluate the 37-mile maximum as a practical range estimate. Likewise, the listed motor power and torque do not by themselves establish how the bike feels on hills or under load.
What the 2023 launch report does—and does not—confirm
New Atlas reported on October 24, 2023, that QU-ET was preparing an Indiegogo campaign and planned a starting price as low as €1,500, described at the time as approximately US$1,600. Those were launch plans, not confirmation that the campaign succeeded, that production bikes shipped or that the price remains available.
