Both vehicle lines appear in Bush Hog’s discontinued-products directory, so treat them as legacy models and check availability before shopping. Bush Hog still lists compact implements intended for ATV or UTV use, including a pull-type lawn plugger.
What “putting them to the test” can—and cannot—mean here
Bush Hog’s owner manuals provide specifications for the 4430 and Trail Series, not independent measurements of how either vehicle performs in the field. The figures below are manufacturer specifications. They do not establish acceleration, fuel economy, ride comfort, traction, reliability, noise, or real-world towing performance. Those comparisons require a documented test under comparable conditions.
The manufacturer’s terminology also matters: the documented Bush Hog vehicles are utility vehicles, while the ATV connection is primarily to implements designed to be pulled by an ATV or UTV. The cited material does not establish a Bush Hog ATV model.
Bush Hog 4430: the published specifications
Bush Hog’s 4430 owner’s manual lists a 4-cycle, overhead-valve, air-cooled Honda V-twin gasoline engine rated at 24 hp and 670 cc. The manual does not identify a publication date in the accessible source.

These are manual figures, not independently verified outcomes. In particular, the stated 1,500 lb towing capacity is not a promise that every trailer, load, hitch, surface, or operating condition is suitable; consult the vehicle documentation and confirm the requirements for the specific setup.
Trail Series: specifications vary by model
The Trail Series manual covers Trail Hunter and Trail Hand variants TH420, TH440, TH4200, and TH4400. Engine output is not uniform across the line:

The manual includes additional suspension, travel, steering, tire, and other specifications, but values need to be matched to the correct model column. Do not assume a figure listed for one variant applies to all four.
How to compare the vehicles in a real test
A fair field comparison would need the exact model and condition of each vehicle, the same load and route, and consistent measurement methods. Useful comparison points include:

The manuals support some specification comparisons, but they do not report independent results for acceleration, economy, comfort, traction, reliability, noise, or actual towing under load. Without matched testing, those should not be presented as proven advantages of one model over another.

Bush Hog’s Compact & UTV Implements page describes compact products that can be pulled by ATVs or UTVs. Listed categories include compact aerators, pluggers, road graders, tillers, box blades, landscape rakes, and rear-mounted blades. This does not mean every listed implement fits every ATV or UTV: check the tow vehicle’s ratings, the hitch type, and the implement’s requirements.

PGVP Compact Series Plugger
Bush Hog describes its PGVP as a pull-type core lawn aerator designed for a riding lawn mower or small ATV/UTV. The listed models and specifications are:

Availability and legacy support
Bush Hog’s discontinued-products directory includes the 4430 and Trail Series utility vehicles, with owner’s manuals, as well as legacy Terra Hog implements such as road graders, rear blades, pluggers, landscape rakes, field cultivators, disc harrows, cultipackers, carry-alls, and aerators. The directory is evidence that documentation is maintained; it does not confirm current stock of vehicles, parts, or implements.
For a used 4430 or Trail Series vehicle, identify the precise model before relying on a manual or pursuing parts. Bush Hog directs customers to its dealer and parts resources, but current inventory and exact fitment are not established by the discontinued listing. Confirm availability and fit directly with a dealer or parts provider.
