Punjab’s Personalized Vanity Plate (PVP) e-Auction lets eligible vehicle owners bid for approved custom combinations of letters and numbers. The official terms explain the application, scrutiny, fees and auction, but do not establish a confirmed public launch date. This is separate from Punjab’s older e-Auction for attractive numeric registration marks, which has different fees and rules.
What the personalized-plate auction covers
A PVP can contain letters, numbers or a combination, subject to the department’s rules and approval. It is not the same service as the attractive numeric registration-mark auction, which covers numeric marks under a separate policy. The PVP terms are in a Punjab Excise document dated December 10, 2024; that document date is not confirmation of the service’s launch date. Punjab Excise PVP terms
The platform’s intended purpose is to let people take part digitally. PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf described it as a “transparent, convenient, and secure digital process,” a statement about the platform’s aim rather than evidence of auction outcomes. Associated Press of Pakistan
Who can apply and what a plate may say
The PVP terms require an applicant to own a validly registered vehicle. Vehicles whose registration is suspended or cancelled, and applicants who are in default of token tax, are excluded. Applicants should check their registration and tax status before applying. Punjab Excise PVP terms

The terms allow up to eight characters, including spaces. Letters must be capitalized; dots, dashes and other symbols are prohibited. The plate must follow the designated fonts and styles and appear in a horizontal line. A requested combination is not automatically accepted: scrutiny can reject wording and the department can recall an approved plate in specified circumstances.
- Requests that duplicate an existing plate or otherwise breach the rules may be refused.
- Obscene or profane wording, unlawful incitement, discriminatory or sexual content, and wording that falsely implies government affiliation are among the prohibited content.
- An applicant may appeal a refusal or recall decision within 14 days.
These are official display and content rules, not a licence to fit a self-made plate. The official process controls approval and plate format. Punjab Excise PVP terms

How the PVP application and auction proceed
The PVP terms describe approval before bidding begins. Follow the current instructions on the Punjab e-Auction portal; portal screens and availability can change.
- Register and submit a PVP request. Provide the required applicant, vehicle and requested-plate details through the official process.
- Confirm vehicle ownership. The application is checked against vehicle and ownership records, and must satisfy the eligibility conditions.
- Accept the terms electronically. Review the conditions for the requested category and accept them as part of the application.
- Wait for scrutiny. The terms say scrutiny should approve or reject an application within 48 hours.
- Pay the participation fee after approval. The applicable fee is non-refundable. Approval and payment precede the PVP auction.
- Bid during the auction window. For an approved PVP, the terms provide for a 15-calendar-day auction unless the department or scrutiny committee sets another rule or decision.
- Check the result and pay the balance. The successful result is due on day 15 at 9 p.m. Pakistan Standard Time, with two-minute extensions for late highest bids. Pay the remaining amount before the PSID expires.
If the successful bidder misses the remaining-payment deadline, the terms say the bid and rights to the plate are lost and the plate returns to auction. Because dates and operating instructions may change, check the official portal and fresh Excise notices rather than relying on an old auction window. A PITB update in September 2026 linked readers to the current schedule for the separate attractive-number auctions; it is not a PVP launch notice. PITB update, September 2026

How PVPs differ from attractive numeric registration marks
Punjab’s attractive-registration-mark policy is a distinct route for numeric marks. Its reserves and participation fee do not apply to PVPs, and its procedure should not be used as a substitute for the PVP terms. Attractive registration-mark policy
| Feature | Personalized Vanity Plates (PVPs) | Attractive numeric registration marks |
|---|---|---|
| What is offered | Letter-only, number-only or mixed combinations, subject to the PVP terms | Numeric registration marks under the separate attractive-mark policy |
| Published examples of reserves | PKR 500,000 to PKR 5,000,000 for the listed Gold and Platinum categories (Punjab Excise, 2024) | PKR 10,000 for mark 1; PKR 7,500 for mark 7 or 786; PKR 5,000 for other single-digit marks (separate policy) |
| Participation fee | PKR 5,000 for Gold; PKR 10,000 for Platinum, non-refundable (PVP terms, 2024) | PKR 100 non-refundable for the relevant application (separate policy) |
| Procedure and timing | Application scrutiny and approval, then a PVP auction described as 15 calendar days unless otherwise directed | Separate application and auction process; the successful bidder must register the vehicle within 15 days, subject to a limited extension |
The attractive-mark policy’s fee, reserve bands and vehicle-registration deadline must not be carried over to a PVP application. See the policy itself for the numeric-mark route’s full current conditions. Attractive numeric mark procedure

What to verify before applying
- Confirm the portal is accepting PVP requests and whether a current auction window has been announced.
- Check that the vehicle is validly registered, ownership details match, and token tax is not in default.
- Choose a combination within the character and content rules, and identify the correct category before estimating the reserve.
- Budget for both the non-refundable participation fee and the eventual winning bid; the reserve is not a final-price cap.
- Read the latest official terms and notices, especially payment instructions and PSID expiry details.
The 2024 PVP terms establish official reserve prices and process rules, but do not establish program-level uptake or revenue figures. Auction schedules and availability are time-sensitive, so rely on the portal and current Excise notices for a live application.
