As of October 8, 2026, Priority lists its Folder folding commuter bike at $649 for the Folder 3 and $699 for the Folder 8. Both pair a 20-inch-wheel aluminum folding frame with a Gates belt drive and an internally geared Shimano hub. The extra $50 for the Folder 8 adds an eight-speed hub, hydraulic disc brakes, a rear rack and fenders, and a telescoping seatpost. These are current listed prices, not confirmed launch prices; check Priority’s checkout for current pricing and shipping offers.
What the $50 difference buys
Priority’s specifications and intended-use descriptions distinguish the builds more than their shared folding frame and belt-drive layout. The figures below are manufacturer specifications, not independent comparative test results.

|---|---|---|
| Listed price on October 8, 2026 | $649 | $699 |

| Priority’s described use | Short trips, last-mile commuting and weekend rides | Longer commutes, varied terrain and daily all-season commuting |
Choose the Folder 3 for simpler trips
The Folder 3 is the lighter, lower-priced build. Its three-speed hub is aimed at short rides and last-mile connections, where compact storage and straightforward transport may matter more than a broad gear range. Budget separately if you want the optional rack or fenders.
Choose the Folder 8 for a more equipped commute
The Folder 8 costs $50 more and weighs three pounds more, but adds five hub gears, hydraulic disc brakes, a rack, and fenders as standard. That makes it the more commute-ready package in Priority’s lineup, particularly if your route varies or you want to carry items and ride in less settled weather. Its upper telescoping seatpost is a standard 27.2 mm size; Priority says a compatible replacement, including a suspension seatpost, can be fitted.

Priority says converting a Folder 3 to the eight-speed setup is not an economical upgrade: the rear wheel and hub, shifter, and cable would need to change, and dropout spacing or chain-line complications may arise. If you expect to need more gears, choose the Folder 8 at purchase rather than counting on a later conversion.
Who the Folder is for—and when a full-size bike makes more sense
A folding bike is useful when the journey includes a car trunk, bus, or subway, or when indoor storage is tight. Priority positions the Folder for those transport and last-mile situations. For longer rides where carrying the bike is not part of the plan, Priority says a full-size commuter is faster and more efficient. The Folder’s portability is therefore a trade-off, not a claim that it outperforms a conventional commuter on the open road.

Priority lists a rider-height range of 4 ft 6 in to 6 ft 4 in, an inseam range of 25–35 inches, and a maximum combined rider-and-gear load of 230 lb. Check your fit and total carried load against those stated limits before choosing a build.
Folding, storage and an unresolved size discrepancy
Priority describes folding the bike by lowering the stem, releasing the frame clasp, and folding the frame; magnets hold the folded bike together. However, the product page gives two different folded-size sets: its FAQ says 12 × 30 × 24 inches (L × W × H), while its geometry section says 31 × 16 × 30 inches (L × W × H). Those figures conflict substantially. Do not rely on either set for a tight storage space or luggage fit without asking Priority to confirm the dimensions or measuring the bike yourself.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the belt drive does—and what the claims establish
Both builds use a Gates belt and an internally geared hub. Priority promotes the belt as clean, rust-free, and requiring no lubrication. Those are manufacturer descriptions; they do not establish a quantified maintenance schedule, lifespan, or durability advantage over other drivetrains. The belt-and-hub arrangement may appeal if you want to avoid a conventional exposed chain, but the published specifications alone are not an independent assessment of ride quality or long-term upkeep.

Priority Director of Product Development Eddie Meek describes the bike as “small enough for portability and large enough for a real-feel ride,” and says it is intended for commuters moving between trains and cars as well as RVers, boaters, and campers. That is the manufacturer’s perspective, not an independent riding evaluation.
