Standard features change with model year, trim, body style, drivetrain, market and the way an individual car is configured. Porsche’s U.S. announcements for the 2025 Carrera, Carrera S and GTS, plus its 2026 Carrera 4S range, show how much the baseline can differ: a feature that is an option on one trim may be standard on another. Use the comparisons below as model-year-specific examples, then confirm the exact car’s local configurator or build sheet before ordering or buying.
What comes standard on a Porsche 911?
For the 2025 U.S.-announced Carrera range, Porsche describes the updated Carrera and GTS as having enhanced standard equipment and expanded connectivity. The details below come from Porsche’s announcements and press-kit information; they are not a universal specification for every country or individual build.
2025 Carrera
- Powertrain and transmission: The Carrera has a 3.0-liter twin-turbo boxer engine. Porsche’s 2025 launch lineup lists PDK as standard and offers the Carrera as a rear-wheel-drive coupe or Cabriolet.
- Lighting and cabin controls: Porsche describes Matrix LED headlights as standard. A mode switch is also standard; the Carrera’s Normal, Sport and Wet modes are available without Sport Chrono.
- Infotainment: The 10.9-inch Porsche Communication Management (PCM) display is the central infotainment control point.
- Seats and wheels: The Carrera coupe can be configured with two seats or a 2+2 layout, with rear seats available at no additional charge. Porsche’s launch information describes 19/20-inch or 20/21-inch wheel combinations, depending on configuration.
These are features described in Porsche’s May 28, 2024 U.S. announcement for the 2025 911 models and its 911 interior press-kit page. Exact availability and package content can vary by market.
2025 Carrera GTS
The GTS is not simply a Carrera with a longer options list. Porsche introduced a 3.6-liter performance-hybrid powertrain for the 2025 GTS and describes its lightweight T-Hybrid system as the first of its kind in a road-legal 911. In the U.S. launch lineup, GTS variants included rear- and all-wheel-drive coupes and Cabriolets, plus an all-wheel-drive Targa; PDK was standard in that lineup.

GTS-specific standard equipment includes Sport Chrono and, according to Porsche’s launch materials, 21-inch rear wheels. The 2025 Carrera GTS coupe’s manufacturer specifications are 2.9 seconds from 0–60 mph and a 194 mph top track speed; those are Porsche figures, not independent test results. Porsche describes a specific GTS exhaust as standard, while PDCC roll stabilization is an available option.
2025 Carrera S
Porsche announced the Carrera S in August 2025 as a model positioned between Carrera and GTS. Its listed standard performance equipment is substantially different from the base Carrera’s:

- Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+).

Porsche says PTV+ is not available on the Carrera, so do not assume the Carrera S equipment list also describes the base trim. On the Carrera S coupe, folding rear seats can be selected at no additional charge instead of the standard two-seat arrangement; the Cabriolet has rear seats. Porsche’s August 1, 2025 Carrera S announcement lists PCCB as an option and says PASM sports suspension with a 10 mm lower ride height and rear-wheel steering is available on request.
2026 Carrera 4S and Targa 4S
For the 2026 model year, Porsche announced the Carrera 4S coupe, Carrera 4S Cabriolet and Targa 4S. The U.S. announcement lists a 3.0-liter twin-turbo boxer engine rated at 473 hp and 390 lb-ft, with PDK sending power to all four wheels. It also describes enhanced standard equipment, sports exhaust with silver tailpipes and brakes previously used on the prior-generation GTS. Porsche says the 4S’s PTM all-wheel-drive system is rear-biased by default and can send more torque forward when required.

The Carrera 4S is not the same configuration as the standard rear-wheel-drive Carrera: Porsche says the standard Carrera is not offered with all-wheel drive. For the 2026 Carrera 4S coupe, Porsche gives a 3.1-second 0–60 mph figure with optional Sport Chrono and Launch Control. These are manufacturer specifications from the July 2, 2025 U.S. announcement; local equipment and ordering details should be checked for the relevant market.
How do the Carrera, Carrera S, GTS and 4S differ?
The useful comparison is not just which trim has more equipment. Powertrain, drivetrain and included chassis hardware change too. This table summarizes Porsche’s cited U.S. model-year announcements, not a market-wide equipment matrix.

- Lighting: HD-Matrix LED headlights are an option in Porsche’s updated launch information; Matrix LED headlights are described as standard.
- Driving modes: Sport Chrono is optional on Carrera models. Porsche says it adds Sport Plus, Launch Control and Sport Response to the Carrera’s standard Normal, Sport and Wet modes; it is standard in the GTS.
- Chassis and brakes: PDCC is optional for the GTS. For Carrera S, Porsche lists PCCB as an option and says PASM sports suspension with rear-wheel steering is available on request.
- Exhaust and wheels: Porsche lists sports exhaust as an option for the Carrera, while it is standard on the Carrera S and a specific GTS exhaust is standard on the GTS in the launch materials. Wheel designs and sizes vary by trim and configuration.
- Interior and personalization: Leather and trim combinations, along with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur customization choices, provide additional ways to configure the car.
- Seating: The Carrera coupe’s rear-seat arrangement is selectable at no added charge; it is a configuration choice, not necessarily a paid option.
Option names, package contents, prices and availability are not established as universal. Confirm them in the configurator for your country and model year rather than relying on an announcement from another market.
Is Sport Chrono standard on the 911?
Not across the entire 911 range. Porsche identifies Sport Chrono as optional on Carrera models and standard on the 2025 GTS. The Carrera’s mode switch is standard, but Sport Plus, Launch Control and Sport Response are added with optional Sport Chrono, according to Porsche’s interior press-kit page. Check the exact model and build sheet: a car’s trim name alone does not establish that Sport Chrono is fitted.

How to verify equipment on a specific 911
- Match model year, trim and body style. A 2025 Carrera, 2025 Carrera S, 2025 GTS and 2026 Carrera 4S do not share one equipment baseline.
- Use the configurator for the car’s market. Porsche’s U.S. model-family listing is a snapshot of model families, not proof that every listed model is available in every country or a complete standard-versus-option matrix.
