Popular Floor Jack Brands Ranked Worst to Best, According to Reviews

SlashGear’s October 2025 review aggregation ranks Blackhawk first, but the best floor jack depends on the vehicle, task, and model—not brand order alone.

In SlashGear’s October 2025 review roundup, Blackhawk ranks first, followed by Harbor Freight’s Badland and Daytona lines, Husky, Pittsburgh, and Torin’s Big Red. That order is an editorial synthesis of professional recommendations and customer reviews of particular models—not a controlled test proving that every jack from one brand is better or safer than every jack from another.

How SlashGear ranked the floor jack brands

SlashGear says its editors used professional reviews to identify popular brands with good reputations, then calculated average customer ratings from retail outlets. The outlet notes that several of the top brands were close. Blackhawk took the top spot largely because the Banner B6350OG had no customer ratings below four stars in the review sample, alongside its price and 3.5-ton capacity compared with competing top models rated at 3 tons. The ranking and its rationale are described in SlashGear’s October 15, 2025 article.

Read the order as a comparison of the named products and review evidence available to that article. Retail ratings can change, and a high average does not rule out the individual failures also described in owner reviews.

The brands in the ranking

Blackhawk Automotive — ranked best

SlashGear reports that the Blackhawk B6350 had a 4.5-star Amazon rating across 4,761 reviews, while the Banner B6350OG had a 4.9-star rating across 32 reviews. Those are October 2025 snapshots reported by SlashGear, not current retailer figures. The smaller sample behind the Banner’s higher score matters when weighing the comparison.

There is also a model-number discrepancy to check before buying: SlashGear calls its jack the B6350, while Car and Driver’s 2026 roundup identifies its tested Blackhawk pick as the B6530. Do not assume those numbers identify the same SKU; verify the exact model on the product listing. Car and Driver names Blackhawk its best traditional floor jack in its 2026 car-jack roundup.

Badland — off-road use

Badland is Harbor Freight’s off-road jack line. SlashGear reports high ratings for the models it discusses, alongside a small number of hydraulic complaints. Those ratings do not establish suitability for a particular vehicle or off-road recovery task; check the model’s capacity, lift range, and intended use.

#1 Best Overall
Jack Boss 3 Ton Low Profile, Aluminum and Steel Racing Floor Jack with Dual Pistons Quick Lift Pump, 1.5X Overload Tested for Safety, Sport Utility Vehicle, Lifting Range 3-15/16" min to 18-5/16" max

Measuring 28.3" L x 13.7" W x 7.8" H, it is ideal for most sedans, SUVs, MPVs, station wagons, travel trailers, and minivans. Includes a rubber saddle and two-piece handle.

  • DUAL-PUMP QUICK LIFT: The hydraulic jack equipped with a dual-piston pump, this heavy-duty floor jack reduces the number of pumps needed to reach the desired lifting height. The large rubber saddle helps provide a secure grip while protecting the vehicle's lifting points from scratches and damage.
  • DURABLE CONSTRUCTION & EASY MANEUVERABILITY: Built with a high-strength aluminum body and welded steel frame, this aluminum floor jack combines durability with reliable performance. Steel casters and swivel front casters provide smooth maneuverability, while the sturdy two-piece handle makes the jack easier to carry, position, and operate.
  • SAFETY & 1-YEAR WARRANTY: This truck jack is rigorously factory tested to 4.5 tons (9,900 lb), 1.5X its rated 3-ton capacity, for enhanced safety and reliability. Meets ANSI/ASME PASE safety standards and includes a limited 1-year manufacturer warranty for added peace of mind.

Daytona — strong reported customer ratings

SlashGear reports 4.9 stars across 3,149 reviews for Harbor Freight’s Daytona 3-ton Low Profile Superduty. The article also records owner complaints involving wheels falling off, hydraulic leaks, and failures to lift or lower. Both the score and review count are snapshots reported in October 2025, not live figures.

Husky — favorable scores, but check lift height

SlashGear reports a 4.7-star Home Depot average across 915 reviews for Husky’s 3-ton HD00120-DIP and 4.7 stars across 168 reviews for the 3.5-ton HD4795-DIP. These are October 2025 article-reported snapshots. The article also describes an owner whose smaller jack could not raise a particular Honda Accord high enough to place stands—an example of why rated capacity alone does not tell you whether a jack’s lift range fits your vehicle and job.

Rank #2

Pittsburgh — the other Harbor Freight line in the list

SlashGear reports 4.8 stars across 1,895 reviews for the Pittsburgh 3-ton low-profile jack. As with the Daytona figure, this is an October 2025 snapshot reported by SlashGear. The same article mentions owner reports of wheels falling off, hydraulic leaks, and failures to lift or lower across its Harbor Freight jack discussions.

Torin Big Red — a truck-oriented pick in another guide

SlashGear describes the Big Red AT84007R as a steel, low-profile, dual-piston, 4-ton floor jack with a 4-inch minimum height and 20-inch maximum lift. It says Car and Driver called this model its “Best Jack for Trucks” in 2025. In Car and Driver’s 2026 roundup, Big Red is again selected for trucks, while Blackhawk is selected as best traditional floor jack. These category distinctions are more useful than treating the brands as interchangeable.

Why other rankings reach different conclusions

There is no single settled brand order. Car and Driver says its Gear Team tested floor jacks, bottle jacks, and specialty designs, assessing lifting speed and height, stability, portability, and ease of use; its 2026 picks include Blackhawk for a traditional floor jack and Big Red for trucks. The Drive’s guide, updated August 15, 2024, instead names Big Red its overall pick, Husky best value, and Badland best for off-road use, with Daytona as an honorable mention. The guides answer slightly different questions and use different methods, so a changed position is not by itself proof that a brand has become better or worse.

How to choose a floor jack for your vehicle and task

Use the brand ranking as a starting point, then compare the specific model with your vehicle and the work you plan to do. A jack that scores well overall may not fit beneath a low car or reach the height you need.

  • Capacity: Match the jack’s rated capacity to the vehicle and lift point. A brand’s ranking does not establish that a particular model is suitable for your vehicle.
  • Minimum and maximum lift height: The minimum height determines whether the saddle fits under the vehicle; the maximum determines how high it can raise it. Check both against your clearance and task.
  • Construction and portability: Aluminum may be easier to move; steel may be a more economical choice for a jack that stays in one place. Consider the jack’s weight as well as its material.
  • Lift speed and effort: Pump design and the jack’s lifting behavior affect how convenient it is to use. Car and Driver includes lifting speed among its test criteria.
  • Review volume and failure reports: A high score drawn from a small number of reviews is less evidence than a similar score across thousands. Pay attention to reports of leaks or lifting failures even when the average rating is high.
  • Intended use and price: Compare models for the job—garage work, low-clearance vehicles, trucks, or off-road use—and check the current price when shopping. The October 2025 ranking does not establish today’s prices.

Use jack stands before working underneath a vehicle

A floor jack lifts a vehicle; it is not a substitute for support stands. After lifting, place appropriately rated jack stands at the vehicle maker’s designated support points before going underneath or doing work that requires the vehicle to remain raised. Consult the owner’s manual for the correct lift and support locations, and follow the jack and stand manufacturers’ instructions. The Drive’s safety guidance likewise stresses that even brief work calls for jack stands rather than relying on a floor jack alone.
