What the SOUO S2000 is
GWM introduced the SOUO S2000 as its first touring motorcycle. An earlier May 2024 photo story referred to the machine as the Great Wall S2000; GWM’s November 2024 launch announcement used the SOUO S2000 name and described three China-market launch versions.
The company said it invested more than RMB 1 billion in its first touring motorcycle. That is GWM’s own reported investment figure, not an independently audited project cost. GWM chairman Jack Wey said: “GWM SOUL’s first touring motorcycle has seen an investment exceeding 1 billion RMB. Our only goal is to design it to the standards of a true masterpiece, creating a collectible bike that will bring endless riding enjoyment.”
Engine and transmission: what GWM announced
GWM describes the S2000’s engine as a horizontally opposed eight-cylinder unit with 2,000 cc of displacement, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). These are manufacturer-reported specifications, not findings from an independent technical inspection or road test.

The May 2024 photo story compared the S2000’s engine capacity and cylinder count with the Honda Gold Wing. That is a specification comparison only; it does not demonstrate that the S2000 is quicker, more powerful, smoother, or better in real-world riding. The available reporting did not include exact dimensions or performance figures.
Three versions and their China launch prices
GWM announced three versions for the China launch. The prices below are historical launch prices reported by GWM in October 2024, not confirmed current prices, overseas prices, or evidence of present dealer availability.

S2000GL cockpit
GWM says the S2000GL includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, over-the-air (OTA) capabilities, and an automotive-grade intelligent cockpit. Those are company claims about the GL version; they should not be assumed to apply to every S2000 version.

The unusual feature established by GWM’s announcement is the combination of a horizontally opposed eight-cylinder 2,000 cc motorcycle engine and an eight-speed DCT. GWM calls its powertrain unique, but the available sources do not independently verify that the S2000 is the world’s first motorcycle of its kind or quantify any effect on the wider motorcycle industry.
