Peter Brock’s 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Studio Concept Split Window Coupe crossed the Mecum auction block at Kissimmee on January 16, 2026. Mecum’s official run list records a $525,000 hammer price for lot F200. That is a past auction result—not a current asking price—and the available sources do not confirm whether the car is now for sale privately.

What is Peter Brock’s 1963 Corvette Studio Concept?

Mecum identifies the car as a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Studio Concept Split Window Coupe, VIN 30837S105549. It was personally owned and offered by automotive designer Peter Brock. According to Mecum’s lot description, Brock drew the sketch that became the original 1963 split-window coupe under GM Styling Director Bill Mitchell; the Studio Concept is Brock’s modern interpretation, incorporating elements from his 1957 concept sketches. Mecum’s lot description is the source for that design history.

The build takes its starting point from the distinctive 1963 split-window body but is a substantially modified restomod, not an unmodified production Corvette. Mecum describes the coupe as Brock’s personal interpretation of what the car should have been, quoting him: “Whoever ends up with this car, it is a personal interpretation of what it should have been.”

What did Peter Brock change on the split-window Corvette?

Body and appearance

The exterior revisions alter both the look and function of the original design. Mecum says the car’s scoops and vents work, its rear windows are enlarged and flush-mounted, and the rear spine is more pronounced. Most brightwork was removed or replaced with black chrome. The body is painted Ferrari Azzurro California Blue, paired with a navy blue and beige interior.

A hammer price is the winning bid recorded at auction; it should not be confused with a current asking price or, without further documentation, a final transaction total including any buyer’s premium.

Is the Peter Brock Corvette still for sale?

The documented offering was Mecum’s January 2026 Kissimmee auction. The sources available here do not establish whether the car has since been offered or sold privately, so its present availability is unknown.

Why the 1963 split-window matters

The split rear window is the defining feature of the 1963 Corvette coupe. Mecum’s listing reports 21,513 Corvettes produced for the 1963 model year: 10,594 split-window coupes and 10,919 convertibles. It also says the split-window treatment was dropped after that inaugural year for the coupe. Those production figures and the historical note are reported by Mecum, rather than a manufacturer production record.
