The Socceroos’ FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifier against Japan was played at Perth Stadium (Optus Stadium) on Thursday 5 June 2025, with a 7:00 pm local kick-off. It is not an upcoming event. Official venue information does not establish that the match caused heavy traffic or provide a specific traffic forecast, delay estimate or road-closure schedule. For future major events, Optus Stadium recommends public transport and warns that event-day parking is limited or unavailable to the public.
Will traffic be heavy near Optus Stadium?
There is no substantiated event-specific answer for the Australia–Japan match. The official sources available for the fixture do not give a traffic forecast, expected delay, traffic count or road-closure schedule. Optus Stadium’s advice to use public transport and its event-day parking restrictions describe venue policy; they are not evidence of how congested roads became for the 5 June 2025 match.
The fixture date and kick-off are confirmed by Football Australia’s Socceroos match information. Because that event has passed, its travel details should be treated as historical rather than as current directions. For a future event, check the venue’s current event information and Transperth service updates before setting out.
Where could drivers park for the Socceroos game?
Optus Stadium says general public parking is unavailable at the stadium on major event days, and describes parking in the surrounding area as extremely limited. Drivers should not assume a stadium car park will be open to them or plan to find a space nearby without checking the arrangements for their specific event.

The event map prepared for Australia v Japan labels surrounding car parks, but it is a map for the 5 June 2025 fixture, not a current parking plan. See Optus Stadium’s parking information for venue policy and consult the venue’s live event guidance for any later event.
Can you take public transport to Optus Stadium?
Yes. The venue calls public transport the most efficient way to arrive at and leave an event. Optus Stadium’s FAQ says a valid event ticket includes Transperth travel on all services for three hours either side of the event. Transperth’s general joint-ticketing guidance describes travel three hours before, during and after the event, or until services end, whichever comes first. These descriptions are not identical, so check the ticket terms for the particular event rather than assuming every ticket includes travel.
