No toll increase took effect on April 5, 2026. Pakistan’s government cancelled the proposed 25% quarterly increase on April 3, before its scheduled start. A separate rate revision was later reported effective July 10, 2026; those reported route amounts should be checked against the current National Highway Authority (NHA) notice before travel.
What happened to the April 5 toll increase?
The planned increase was withdrawn before it came into effect. The Press Information Department said on April 3 that the minister had rescinded the proposed 25% quarterly increase and frozen adjustments for the remainder of FY 2025–26. The Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported that the NHA formally cancelled its April 1 notification. The proposed April 5 change therefore did not raise tolls on that date. How the dates unfolded

Why was the proposal cancelled?
APP attributed the decision to economic difficulties and rising petrol and diesel prices. The minister’s explanation, as reported by APP, was that people were already facing pressure from the economic situation and higher fuel prices, so an additional financial burden would not be appropriate. What toll rates were reported after April?
PakWheels reported a separate toll-rate revision effective July 10, 2026. The following amounts are the report’s car rates, not independently confirmed here against the underlying NHA notification. The report says other vehicle classes, including wagons, buses and articulated trucks, have different rates. PakWheels report on the July revision.

The July report notes that its notification did not list M-2, which has a separate rate structure. Treat the M-2 amount above as a figure reported by PakWheels, not as a rate established by that notification.
How to check the toll for your trip
- Identify the exact motorway or highway and the entry and exit points for your journey.
- Check the applicable rate for your vehicle class; the July figures above apply to cars only.
- Confirm the rate and effective date against the latest NHA notification, especially if relying on a secondary report or planning a trip after a rate revision.
- Ensure your existing toll-tag account has sufficient balance before departure.
The April freeze was stated to cover the remainder of FY 2025–26; it was not an announcement that rates would remain unchanged indefinitely. The July amounts are reported by PakWheels, while the underlying NHA notice and its complete vehicle-category tables are not available to verify here.
