The 21st Pakistan Auto Parts Show (PAPS) 2026 was scheduled for September 18–20 at Expo Centre Lahore, not Karachi. Those dates had passed by October 8, 2026. The official import figure cited alongside the event is for motor cars in CKD/SKD form—not used cars—so it does not establish that used-car imports rose.
When and where was PAPS 2026?
The Ministry of Industries and Production announced that the 21st Pakistan Auto Parts Show would take place at Expo Centre Lahore from September 18 to 20, 2026. As of October 8, 2026, the event is over. The ministry also said the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) partnered with the Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM) for the edition. Ministry of Industries and Production announcement
The announcement described the show as a way to connect local auto-parts manufacturers with markets and competitors. Secretary MoI&P Saif Anjum said the event should provide local manufacturers with market exposure and linkages with global competitors.
Why does Karachi appear in coverage of the show?
Karachi was the venue for the previous edition identified in PAAPAM’s 2025 brochure: it scheduled the show for November 14–16, 2025, at Karachi Expo Centre. Those were 2025 dates, not the 2026 schedule. The brochure also described PAAPAM as having more than 350 registered members and a manufacturer base above 2,800 units; these are the association’s own promotional figures, not independently verified current totals. Is there evidence that used-car imports are rising?
Not from the cited figure. Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported motor-car imports classified as CKD/SKD—vehicles imported in completely or semi-knocked-down form—at Rs 67,203 million in June 2026. That was a 55.89% increase in value compared with June 2025. The category is not specifically used cars, and the measure is import value, not the number of vehicles. It cannot support a claim that used-car imports rose. PBS June 2026 release
To establish a rise in used-car imports, a comparison needs to identify used vehicles separately and compare like with like—for example, the number of used complete vehicles imported in June 2026 against the same period a year earlier. PBS’s external-trade page links to official trade series, but the available material here does not establish a comparable used-car-specific series. PBS external-trade statistics

What PAPS is—and is not
PAPS is an industry exhibition focused on auto-parts manufacturers and business or market linkages. The ministry’s announcement emphasized exposure for local parts makers and connections with global competitors. It is not described as a consumer car sale. For the 2026 edition, SMEDA partnered with PAAPAM, the association representing automotive parts and accessories manufacturers.
