PACK Rack was presented as a folding pickup-bed platform that separates camping gear from the sleeping surface: store equipment below, then sleep on the raised platform. It was also described as a table. The “micro-RV” framing is descriptive, not a claim that the setup turns a pickup into a certified RV.
What the PACK Rack does
New Atlas described PACK Rack as a shelf that can be raised above gear in a pickup bed, creating a sleeping surface on top. The platform can also serve as a table, so its purpose is broader than a fixed truck-bed mattress or cargo rack.
The reported design uses powder-coated steel slats and six individually adjustable legs. Changing leg height lets the owner adjust the gap beneath the platform, trading under-bed storage space against the clearance above the sleeping surface. The available coverage does not specify a load rating or standardized fit measurements, so check vehicle and bed compatibility rather than assuming the platform fits every pickup.
Folding, setup, and configurations
New Atlas says the platform folds in half for transport and storage. PACK’s Kickstarter campaign described it as “Height adjustable, foldable and portable – sets up in 30 seconds.” That 30-second setup time is the campaign’s claim, not an independently verified result.

The product was described in single and Duo arrangements. The Duo consists of two single units placed side by side; that gives shoppers a wider configuration to consider, but the cited coverage does not establish detailed dimensions or vehicle-specific fit.
Launch-era price and campaign figures
New Atlas reported proposed starting prices of US$225 for a single-person model and US$400 for the Duo in 2024. It also reported product weights of 25–37 lb (11.3–16.8 kg). These are historical launch-coverage figures, not current quotes or independently verified measurements of delivered units.

PACK’s Kickstarter campaign ran May 7–21, 2024, and reported raising $259,348 from 672 backers. Those numbers describe crowdfunding activity; they do not establish how many units shipped or whether the original pickup-bed platform is currently for sale.
Is the pickup-bed PACK Rack available now?
The 2024 Kickstarter page establishes that PACK offered the pickup-bed platform through a crowdfunding campaign. It does not establish present retail stock. The current Pack Rack storefront features modular utility-trailer systems, including Base Camp, Summit, and Everest; those products are not the same as the pickup-bed sleeping platform.

Elevated cargo rack
Dometic describes its Pro Bed Rack as an elevated pickup-bed cargo rack that leaves space underneath for cargo. The cited product description does not present it as a folding sleeping platform, so it is a gear-storage alternative rather than a like-for-like PACK Rack replacement.

A cap or camper shell can cover an otherwise open truck bed. It is a separate product and setup decision: New Atlas does not say that PACK Rack includes a shell. A raised platform may organize a bed, but it does not by itself provide weather protection.
Questions to check before choosing
- Sleeping and storage: Decide whether you need a platform that supports both functions or only an elevated cargo rack.
- Height and clearance: Consider how much room you need below the platform for gear and above it for sleeping.
- Portability: The platform was described as folding in half, but confirm folded dimensions and handling details for the specific unit.
- Fit: Verify compatibility with your pickup bed; the cited coverage does not provide a universal fit specification.
- Weather cover: Determine separately whether your setup needs a compatible shell or cap.
The available sources do not provide standardized tests or a direct, like-for-like comparison across these options.
