Oru says the hybrid design improves insulation and wind resistance over traditional canvas pop-ups, but its published product information gives no R-value or controlled temperature comparison. That makes “all-season comfort” a manufacturer positioning—not a verified promise of four-season or extreme-cold performance.
How the Bruin’s hybrid walls work
Oru describes the Bruin’s walls as aluminum-composite hardwall panels fitted inside a marine-grade fabric enclosure. The panels are removable for customization or service. The company says the materials resist moisture, temperature swings, and wind, and characterizes the design as better insulated and more wind-resistant than traditional canvas pop-ups. Oru’s Bruin product page does not provide a quantified insulation rating or a controlled comparison, so those comfort advantages should be understood as manufacturer claims rather than measured results.
Oru also describes its V3 Hard Wall System as reducing mechanical stress points common in traditional pop-up systems. EPDM seals around the panel edges are intended to help keep water and dust out. These are design descriptions from the manufacturer, not independent durability or weatherproofing test results.
Is the Oru Bruin really all-season?
Oru markets the Bruin for all-season use, but the available product information does not establish a temperature range, insulation value, or independent test performance in winter conditions. The hardwall panels and sealed edges may be relevant to comfort, but actual conditions will also depend on weather, ventilation, bedding, and the camper’s selected equipment. Do not treat the “all-season” label as a guarantee of comfort in extreme cold or severe weather.

Oru’s homepage includes a testimonial from Justin, whose truck is identified as a 2006 Nissan Frontier: “We put the Bruin to the test camping at ski areas all Winter and could not be happier with how it performed.” That is a customer account published by Oru, not a controlled test or independent review. Oru’s homepage also displays a testimonial from Thomas, identified with a 2024 Toyota Tacoma, praising the hardwalls, airflow, and added space; it likewise represents a customer’s experience, not a performance measurement.
Bruin dimensions, weight, and truck fit
Oru lists a 60 × 80-inch queen bed and a Bruin base weight starting at 300 pounds. The actual weight depends on the size and configuration, so confirm the weight of the specific build rather than relying on the base figure.

Oru says it builds campers for standard truck beds from 5 to 8 feet long, with exceptions for some nonstandard bed rails. Its order form requests the truck’s make, model, bed length, and year. Before ordering, have Oru confirm fit for the exact truck and configuration, and check the vehicle manufacturer’s payload rating against the camper’s final installed weight plus occupants, cargo, and any other carried equipment.

Oru lists three Bruin package levels. Equipment can change, so confirm the current options and configured price in the build process.

The package names and listed equipment are useful starting points, but the build configurator is the place to verify what is currently included in a particular order.
Bruin or Bruin XL?
The Bruin XL adds extended-width sidewalls and offers an east-west king or queen sleeping arrangement, according to Oru. The XL is listed at a 450-pound base weight and a $12,499 starting price on the lineup comparison page. The Bruin’s listed base weight starts at 300 pounds, so the difference is material for a truck’s payload calculation.

These are displayed figures, not a like-for-like quote: Oru’s pages present different price formats, and the lineup page does not explain the difference. Compare the models using your truck’s bed and payload limits, sleeping layout, configured weight, package contents, and final quoted price.

Oru’s lineup page displays the Bruin starting at $9,999. Its product listing shows size-specific prices of $10,499 for Midsize, $10,999 for Fullsize, and $11,499 for Longbed, and states that a $500 nonrefundable deposit is required. Because the pages show different starting-price presentations and do not explain the discrepancy, ask Oru for a current total for the exact truck, size, and package before paying a deposit.

Oru describes its ordering flow as design, deposit, confirmation, build, and installation. It advertises installation at its Vista, California headquarters or other locations.
