The OMO X is an electric motorcycle from OMOWAY that uses manufacturer-described balance assistance; it is not simply a conventional scooter. OMOWAY reported its first deliveries in Indonesia on June 15, 2026. The company calls it the first mass-produced self-balancing electric motorcycle, a narrower claim than being the first self-balancing electric vehicle of any kind.
What is the OMO X?
OMOWAY describes the OMO X as a two-wheeled electric motorcycle with self-balancing assistance. EVSHIFT’s March 20, 2026 headline called it a scooter, but the manufacturer’s category is motorcycle. The distinction matters: “scooter” in that headline should not be read as a separate product type or proof that the vehicle is a stand-up scooter.
OMOWAY announced on March 13, 2026 that the OMO X had entered mass production. The company’s Head of Product and Global Brand, Ricky Yu, framed that milestone this way: “The mass production of the OMO X signifies that AI is no longer just code behind a screen; it has a physical carrier to perceive the world.” That is the company’s characterization, not an independent assessment of the motorcycle’s capabilities. Where is it available?
Indonesia is the first reported market. OMOWAY planned Indonesian pre-orders for late April and a sales launch for late May when it announced mass production; it opened pre-orders on April 25. On June 15, the company reported the first deliveries in Indonesia. It also said more than 100 pioneer users attended the delivery ceremony; that attendance figure is not a verified number of motorcycles sold or delivered. What does self-balancing mean on this motorcycle?
OMOWAY says the OMO X combines gyroscopic stabilization with software control, AI algorithms, and its electronic architecture to assist with balance at low speeds, including stop-and-go traffic. In practical terms, the feature is presented as support in low-speed situations rather than a claim that the motorcycle can ride itself or eliminate the rider’s need to control it.
Those are manufacturer descriptions. The available reporting does not independently verify how the stabilization performs, what happens in particular riding conditions, or whether it improves safety. A buyer should seek a demonstration and confirm the feature’s operating limits and required rider input before relying on it.

Is it really the first self-balancing electric vehicle?
Not in the broadest sense established by the evidence. A Segway training workbook revised in January 2004 already described the Human Transporter as a self-balancing electric-powered transporter. That historical document is hosted by manuals.plus rather than being an original launch report, so it provides useful context, not a complete history of the category.
