The camouflaged SUV spotted testing in India has been identified by MotorOctane as a seven-seat version of the Nissan Tekton. Nissan’s official India roadmap confirms a seven-seat C-SUV planned for early 2027, but does not name it Tekton. That distinction matters: the vehicle’s identity, specifications and price have not yet been officially announced.

Nissan India’s roadmap says it plans to launch “a 7-seater C-SUV in early 2027.” The announcement does not name the vehicle or disclose its cabin, equipment or powertrain. What the spy images appear to show
MotorOctane describes the heavily camouflaged test vehicle as longer than the five-seat Tekton, with a longer rear quarter panel and larger rear quarter glass. The report also notes different-looking rear lamps, a thicker connecting light bar and a flatter-looking rear windshield. What remains unconfirmed
Nissan has not disclosed the planned SUV’s interior in the official roadmap announcement. MotorOctane expects a 5+2 seating layout, but Nissan has not confirmed that configuration. The vehicle’s equipment, engine, transmission and price are also not specified in Nissan’s cited announcement.
MotorOctane forecasts an on-road Mumbai price of ₹17 lakh to ₹25 lakh. That is the publication’s estimate, not an official price or a confirmed national range; Nissan has not announced pricing. Reported powertrain expectations are not confirmed specifications
MotorOctane expects a 1.3-litre, four-cylinder direct-injection turbo-petrol engine, front-wheel drive and a choice of six-speed manual or wet dual-clutch automatic transmissions. It describes a strong-hybrid version only as a possibility. None of these details is confirmed in Nissan’s roadmap announcement, so they should be treated as forecasts rather than specifications. What to wait for before comparing it with rivals
A useful comparison with the XUV 7XO, Safari or Alcazar will need confirmed, like-for-like details rather than a model name or exterior resemblance alone. The most important points for a family SUV buyer will be:
- Official price and trim-level equipment
- Usable third-row space and access, not just a claimed seat count
- Confirmed engine, transmission and drivetrain choices
- Safety equipment, warranty and ownership support
Nissan has not yet provided enough official detail in the cited material to support a fair value or performance ranking against those models.
