The Nissan Caravan MYROOM is a factory-converted Japanese van that changes from a normal passenger vehicle into a wood-trimmed lounge and then a bedroom. - Driving mode: the rear seat faces forward and functions as a passenger seat.
- Living-room mode: the rear seat turns rearward and works as a sofa, with a removable sliding table for meals, work, or relaxing.
- Bedroom mode: the rear seat flattens and connects with the lift-up bed to form a wide sleeping area.
That transformation is what gives the Caravan MYROOM its retreat-like character. When the bed is stored, the cabin is not dominated by a mattress or a permanent RV platform. The bed lifts against the side wall, where its wood finish becomes part of the surrounding interior design.

Nissan first showed the idea as the Caravan MYROOM CONCEPT at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January 2022. The concept was especially fitting for the Caravan, which marked its 50th anniversary in 2023. Nissan announced on May 29, 2023, that the concept would become a production model, and the first limited Launch Edition began accepting orders in October 2023.
How the lift-up bed works
The bed is not simply a permanently installed mattress folded in half. In sleeping mode, it connects to the rear 2-in-1 seat, producing the main bed area. In lounge mode, the bed is raised against the interior side, opening the floor and leaving the van usable as a sitting or dining room.
The wood-look finish is important to the visual effect. Rather than making the stored bed look like exposed camping hardware, Nissan integrates it into the room-like side treatment. That is why the arrangement resembles a Murphy bed in a small apartment.
There is an important specification caveat: Nissan presents the lift-up bed as a MYROOM equipment or conversion option, not as proof that every Caravan MYROOM configuration has exactly the same bed equipment. The photographed vehicle may also include optional MYROOM front-seat covers and other selected equipment. Buyers need to check the grade, model year, and option list for the specific Japanese-market vehicle.
The 2-in-1 rear seat does most of the transforming
The rear seat is the other key piece of the layout. Nissan describes it as having a two-sided cushion with different firmness levels. The softer side is intended for living-room comfort, while the firmer side is better suited to driving and bed use.
It is split 50:50, so the two halves can be arranged separately. That gives the cabin more flexibility than a simple one-piece bench: one side can remain configured differently from the other, depending on whether the occupants are traveling, sitting, or preparing the bed.
The seat can be moved between forward-facing driving, rear-facing sofa, and flattened bed arrangements. Nissan’s safety instruction is straightforward: the rear seat must be returned to driving mode while the vehicle is moving. The removable sliding table must also be locked during driving.

Inside the MYROOM: more lounge than motorhome
The Caravan MYROOM’s strongest appeal is its interior atmosphere. Nissan uses wood-look treatments on the ceiling and side areas, indirect lighting, side boxes, curtains, and wood blinds on applicable grades. Some versions use a dedicated sand-beige and white two-tone exterior color that reinforces the cabin’s furniture-like theme.

Nissan also lists insulation in areas including the roof, sliding door, body side, wheel houses, and rear doors on applicable grades. A urethane treatment in the roof is intended to reduce rain noise. Those details matter because the MYROOM is designed for spending quiet time inside, not merely for carrying a bed from one campsite to another.
With the bed raised, the cabin can be arranged as a living or dining room. With the shades or curtains closed and the indirect lighting turned on, Nissan presents it as a theater-like room. That does not mean the van includes a built-in home-theater system or a streaming subscription; it means the space is designed to support a private viewing and relaxation setup.
For owners adapting a different van to a similar atmosphere, camper van privacy curtains can be a practical aftermarket starting point. They may help with light control and privacy, but they are not confirmed Nissan replacement parts, and fitment depends on the window dimensions and mounting points.

Nissan lists electrical outlets and a Portable Battery from LEAF among the MYROOM equipment or options. The battery uses reused Nissan EV batteries and is presented as a dealer option for powering the room-like setup. On the researched Nissan Japan page, its listed price was ¥170,500 including tax; that price is market- and date-specific and can change.
The battery should not be mistaken for standard equipment on every MYROOM. Nissan distinguishes between grade-specific equipment, conversion options, and dealer options. A particular vehicle may therefore have a very different electrical specification from another vehicle carrying the same MYROOM name.
Nor does the published equipment make the Caravan MYROOM equivalent to a large motorhome with a complete off-grid electrical system. A general portable power station for van camping may be useful for lights, phones, laptops, or a compact viewing setup, but it should be treated as a separate accessory—not as a Nissan-compatible replacement for the Leaf-derived battery. Before buying one, check output wattage, battery capacity, charging method, cable requirements, ventilation, and the actual devices you plan to run.

The smaller NV200 Vanette MYROOM
Nissan also offers a smaller MYROOM based on the Japanese-market NV200 Vanette DX. It follows the same “room in nature” philosophy but uses a more compact layout.
The NV200 Vanette MYROOM has a two-sided 2-in-1 rear seat, a flat bed made from two boards, a removable sliding table, wood-look ceiling and trim, and indirect lighting. Curtains and insulation are available depending on the specification. When the bed is not needed, the boards can be folded and stored behind the second-row seat.
It is a related product rather than the vehicle featured in the Murphy-bed-focused description. The Caravan MYROOM is the larger and more elaborate model, with the visually distinctive lift-up bed. The NV200 Vanette MYROOM is the compact alternative for someone who wants a smaller, more daily-driver-friendly van.

Launch Edition versus the regular Caravan MYROOM
The first production version was the limited Caravan MYROOM Launch Edition. It should not be treated as interchangeable with every later MYROOM.

A car side awning can extend the living area outdoors, echoing Nissan’s own dealer-option approach to taking the room into nature. However, a universal awning should not be assumed to fit the Caravan. Check attachment points, roof height, vehicle-side clearance, wind limits, and whether the awning interferes with doors or the lift-up bed.

The Caravan MYROOM is not remarkable merely because a van can sleep two people. Many camper vans do that. Its distinctive idea is that the bedroom is temporary and the lounge is the default character of the cabin.
The bed disappears into the wall. The rear seat becomes a sofa. The table comes out for dinner or a laptop. Curtains and indirect lighting change the mood. Wood-toned surfaces make the stored bed look like furniture rather than equipment. Nissan has effectively applied apartment-style transformable furniture to a commercial van.
