Nissan’s Electric GT-R? What the 1,000 kW Hyper Force Concept Actually Means

The 1,000 kW Nissan Hyper Force is a concept, not a confirmed electric GT-R. Nissan has separate solid-state battery ambitions, but has not tied them to a production successor.

The Nissan vehicle described with up to 1,000 kW of power and an all-solid-state battery is the Hyper Force, a concept unveiled in 2023—not a confirmed production electric GT-R. Nissan has separately said it aims to launch an EV with its own all-solid-state batteries by fiscal year 2028, but it has not confirmed that Hyper Force will become the next GT-R or that a production successor will use the concept’s specifications.

Is Nissan making an electric GT-R?

Nissan has expressed a commitment to reimagining a future GT-R generation, but its public announcements do not confirm a production electric GT-R, its name, specifications, or launch date. The 1,000 kW and solid-state-battery claims belong to the Hyper Force, one of five concepts Nissan unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show on October 25, 2023. Nissan’s Hyper Force announcement describes a proposed high-performance electric concept, not a production-car announcement.

Nissan ended production of the R35 GT-R in August 2025, after an 18-year run. The company reported approximately 48,000 R35 units produced and said it remained committed to reimagining a future generation. That statement does not identify the Hyper Force as the successor. Nissan’s announcement about the R35’s production end contains no confirmation that the concept will enter production.

How much power does the Hyper Force claim?

Nissan gave the Hyper Force a proposed maximum output of up to 1,000 kW. That converts to approximately 1,341 mechanical horsepower; the horsepower figure is a unit conversion, not a separate Nissan specification. The 1,000 kW figure is a manufacturer claim for a concept powertrain, not an independently tested result from a production car.

Nissan also attributed several other technologies to the concept: a lightweight body using high-strength carbon, e-4ORCE all-wheel control, aerodynamic downforce, and LiDAR-assisted driving technology. These are concept features, not evidence of verified road performance or finalized specifications for a future GT-R. Nissan characterized the car as a high-performance supercar intended to combine driving pleasure with environmental performance and everyday comfort; that is promotional positioning, not an independent assessment.

Does the next GT-R have solid-state batteries?

The Hyper Force concept’s described powertrain includes an all-solid-state battery. Nissan has not said that a production GT-R will use that battery, and the concept announcement does not specify its range, charging time, pack capacity, or price.

Nissan’s broader battery program is a separate development track. The company says it aims to launch an EV equipped with in-house-developed all-solid-state batteries by fiscal year 2028. This is a company target, not a confirmed delivery date for a particular car. Nissan’s all-solid-state battery overview says the technology may offer roughly twice the energy density of conventional lithium-ion batteries, shorter charging times, and lower cost through less expensive materials. These are prospective benefits, not Hyper Force performance specifications.

What has Nissan actually done on solid-state batteries?

Nissan’s stated battery ambitions have been accompanied by development work, but those milestones do not establish a production Hyper Force plan.

  • Pilot line: Nissan said its all-solid-state battery pilot line began operating in January 2025.
  • Manufacturing process: In August 2025, Nissan announced a partnership with LiCAP Technologies on cathode dry-electrode production-process technology. Nissan says dry processing avoids drying and solvent recovery, while also noting that achieving high production efficiency at future mass-production scale remains a challenge.
  • Commercialization goal: Nissan’s technology and long-term-vision materials identify fiscal year 2028 as its target to launch an EV with in-house-developed all-solid-state batteries. A target can change and does not name the vehicle.

Nissan’s Ambition 2030 materials describe the broader technology roadmap. The pilot line and LiCAP work show ongoing development; they do not show that the battery is ready for mass production in a GT-R.
