The 370Z is the 350Z’s successor, with a larger V6, more power in representative model years, and a substantial chassis and cabin redesign. Which one is the better buy depends on the specific year, trim, condition, mileage, history, location, and asking price—not just the model name.
For a useful comparison, start with exact-year specifications and local comparable listings. A well-maintained 350Z may be a better purchase than a neglected 370Z, while the newer generation offers meaningful performance and packaging changes.

The price examples are for different years and trim mixes, so they do not establish a fixed premium for every 370Z over every 350Z. KBB says values vary with mileage, condition, location, and other factors.
Performance and model-year differences
Both cars are rear-wheel-drive Z coupes built around naturally aspirated Nissan V6 engines, but output varies by year and trim. Edmunds rates the 2008 350Z’s 3.5-liter V6 at 306 hp and 268 lb-ft. Its 2009 370Z review gives the 3.7-liter V6 an output of 332 hp. These are model-year-specific examples, not figures that apply to every car in either generation.

For another year-specific reference, Edmunds lists 332 hp for regular 2017 370Z models and 350 hp for the 2017 Nismo. Confirm the trim and factory specification before comparing cars; modifications can also change the vehicle from its original configuration.
What changed with the 370Z?
Edmunds describes the 2009 370Z as an all-new replacement rather than a minor refresh. Compared with the outgoing 350Z, it has a shorter wheelbase, wider rear track, greater torsional and bending rigidity, revised suspension tuning, and a 95-pound weight reduction. A relocated structural crossmember also helped free trunk space.

The 370Z’s cabin materials and cargo packaging were improved, according to Edmunds and KBB. That does not make it a spacious modern daily driver: Edmunds’ 2017 review still notes a small cabin and trunk, road noise, and dated technology. Those observations apply to the reviewed model and should not be treated as a measurement of every year or trim.
How to compare used prices
KBB’s listed 2006 350Z Fair Purchase Prices range from $7,000 for a Grand Touring Coupe to $11,000 for a Touring Coupe. KBB describes these as national reference values for typical-mileage vehicles and says the values vary with condition, mileage, location, and other factors; that page marks the data valid through September 26, 2026.

KBB lists $12,900 for a 2010 370Z Touring Roadster and $15,550 for a Coupe. The page says displayed pricing is updated weekly and can vary substantially by vehicle and market. Because these examples compare different model years and trim sets, use them as dated reference points—not as a direct, like-for-like price test or a quote for a particular car.
To judge a listing, compare the same model year, body style, trim, transmission, condition, and approximate mileage in your area. A current valuation and comparable local listings are more useful than a broad claim that one generation always costs a particular amount more.

Which one should you buy?
Choose between actual cars, not generalizations about their generations. The 370Z brings a newer design and the documented chassis and power changes; the 350Z may suit a buyer whose budget, preferred year, or particular example makes it the stronger value. Neither choice is automatically better without an inspection and price comparison.
- Confirm the model year, trim, coupe or roadster body style, transmission, and factory equipment.
- Compare the asking price with current local listings for closely comparable cars and consult a current valuation.
- Review service records and vehicle history, and arrange an independent inspection.
- Check tires, brakes, title and history, and the condition and documentation of any modifications.
- Base your decision on the specific car’s condition and price; do not assume a low odometer reading means it was well maintained.
