The refreshed Renault Megane E-Tech is eligible for the UK’s maximum £3,750 Electric Car Grant, but its advertised price depends on which current listing you consult. Auto Express reported post-grant prices of £28,245 for Techno and £31,245 for Esprit Alpine; Renault UK’s current MY27 page instead lists them from £31,995 and £34,995 while also marking both grant-eligible. Treat £28,245 as Auto Express’s reported figure, not a price confirmed on Renault’s page, and ask a retailer for the cash price of the exact car you plan to order.
What is the new Renault Megane’s price after the Electric Car Grant?
In a report dated 1 October 2026, Auto Express said the refreshed Megane E-Tech qualifies for the full £3,750 grant and listed these post-grant starting prices:
| Trim | Auto Express reported price after grant | Renault UK MY27 page starting price |
|---|---|---|
| Techno | £28,245 | £31,995 |
| Esprit Alpine | £31,245 | £34,995 |
The Renault figures are the starting prices shown on its current UK product page, which also identifies both versions as eligible for the £3,750 grant. That page excludes metallic paint; it does not explain why its displayed prices are £3,750 higher than Auto Express’s reported post-grant prices. The two sources therefore do not establish one consistent cash price. Confirm the live offer, specification and total payable with a Renault retailer before ordering.
Auto Express also said the Techno price was nearly £5,000 below the cheapest Megane E-Tech at its 2022 launch. That comparison is Auto Express’s, and should not be read as a like-for-like price comparison after accounting for changes to the car or pricing.

How much is the Renault Megane grant, and how does it work?
Renault’s current UK page identifies the MY27 Megane as eligible for a £3,750 Electric Car Grant. Auto Express reported that the Megane had previously qualified for a £1,500 Band 2 grant and now qualifies for the maximum amount. Eligibility is tied to the specific vehicle and current scheme rules, so check the exact variant being ordered rather than assuming the amount applies to every Megane or model year.
Buyers do not apply separately. GOV.UK says: “You do not apply for the grant. The seller includes it as a discount in the purchase price.” Government guidance gives a general recommended retail price cap of £37,000, subject to its definitions and other eligibility requirements. The government’s consumer list includes the Renault Megane, but that does not replace checking the exact car against current rules.

Renault UK lists the MY27 Megane E-Tech with a 67 kWh battery, up to 306 miles of range, 220 hp and a 15–80% fast-charge time of 24 minutes. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently tested results. The “up to” range is a headline figure, not a promise of the distance a driver will achieve in everyday conditions.
Renault lists the Techno with a heat pump, heated front seats and a 12-inch openR link multimedia system with Google built-in and Arkamys audio. It also identifies home charging stations among the Megane’s charging solutions, but does not specify a charger model or installation cost, or say that a home charger is included.

What to check before ordering
- Ask the retailer for a written cash quote showing the exact trim, paint, options and grant discount.
- Check that the quoted car—not just the model name—is eligible for the grant under the rules in force when you order.
- When comparing cars, use the same price basis and range measure. Renault’s 306-mile figure is a current UK manufacturer claim; avoid comparing it directly with another car’s range unless the test basis matches.
- Confirm whether metallic paint or other options change the total, since Renault’s displayed starting prices exclude metallic paint.
