The 2026 Polestar 5 is a four-door electric performance grand tourer, and its most unusual visible feature is what it leaves out: there is no rear window. Instead, a roof-mounted camera feeds a high-definition display in place of the rear-view mirror. Polestar’s UK page lists two versions, priced from £89,500, with a choice between a longer stated WLTP range and stronger performance.

One detail to look for in exterior and interior views is the uninterrupted rear glass area: the car has a panoramic glass roof, but no conventional rear window. The camera-and-display arrangement is central to the cabin design, not simply a styling flourish.
What the no-rear-window design means
Polestar says a camera mounted at the roof sends a live feed to a high-definition rear-view display. Drivers can switch the display to a traditional mirror view to check rear-seat occupants. The company says removing the rear window made room for a longer rear header and a panoramic roof that extends behind the rear passengers. UK versions, prices and specifications
Polestar’s UK specification page lists two all-wheel-drive, dual-motor versions. The figures below are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. Prices were displayed on 7 October 2026 and may change.

The Performance version is more powerful and quicker, while the Dual motor has the higher stated WLTP range target. Polestar says real range varies with driving behaviour, external conditions and configuration, and that certified values are not normally achievable in real-world use.

Battery and charging
Polestar lists a 112 kWh, 800 V lithium-ion NMC battery for the UK car. Its stated maximum DC rapid-charging rate is 350 kW, with a claimed 10–80% charging time of 22 minutes. For AC charging, the page lists 11 kW and 11 hours from 0–100%. These are manufacturer figures; charging time and achievable power depend on the charging equipment and conditions.
The UK specification also lists a six-metre, 32A, three-phase AC cable with a Type 2 connector as a single option for home chargers or charging points. Check whether it is included in the chosen configuration and confirm compatibility with the charger and electrical supply before buying a cable.

Launch and production
Polestar said sales began on 8 September and initially covered 23 of its 28 active markets. In its 18 February 2026 investor announcement, the company said first customer deliveries were expected from summer 2026. That was a company forecast, not confirmation that UK customers have received cars. Polestar identifies Wuhan, China, as the planned production location and says the Geely plant has secured 100% renewable electricity.
Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller described the car as the company’s “brand halo car,” saying it would bring “a new level of performance and luxury to the grand-tourer segment.” That is the manufacturer’s positioning rather than an independent verdict.
