New Holland announced SmartTrax track configurations for five model-year 2025 T9 tractors: the T9.520, T9.580, T9.615, T9.655 and T9.700. The update adds track-system features including oscillating roller wheels, vibration-dampening suspension and automatic tensioning. New Holland’s speed, traction, fuel-capacity and belt-life statements are manufacturer claims, not independent test results.
What is new on the New Holland T9 SmartTrax?
The SmartTrax announcement is a track-system and configuration update for New Holland’s high-horsepower T9 tractors, rather than a launch of a new T9 family. In its February 14, 2024 North American release, New Holland listed five model-year 2025 SmartTrax models and a rated-power range of 475–645 horsepower across them. New Holland’s announcement attributes the specifications and expected benefits to the manufacturer.
Track-system features
- Oscillating roller wheels and vibration-dampening mount suspension: New Holland says these support ride quality and help prevent uneven belt wear during field-to-field transport.
- Clear access to track hubs: The release describes clear hubcaps that make critical components easier to access.
- Automatic tensioning: The system removes manual track-tension adjustments, according to New Holland.
- Two belt widths: The announced choices are 30 and 36 inches. New Holland also said three belt brands would be offered, but the release reviewed here does not identify them.

The model-year 2025 launch announcement named these five tractors:
| Model | Launch-announcement context |
|---|---|

| T9.580 | One of five SmartTrax models; included in the announced 475–645 hp rated-power range |

| T9.700 | One of five SmartTrax models; included in the announced 475–645 hp rated-power range |
The horsepower range applies to the five-model SmartTrax launch group; the cited announcement does not provide an individual rated-horsepower figure for each model in its summary.

How does T9 SmartTrax differ from a wheeled T9?
The basic distinction is tracks instead of tires. New Holland’s materials describe belt widths, track access and tensioning features, and manufacturer claims about traction and transport. They do not provide a controlled head-to-head test showing how a SmartTrax tractor compares with a wheeled T9 in the same conditions.
| Comparison point | What the announcements establish |
|---|---|
| Running gear | SmartTrax uses a track system; the broader T9 family also includes wheeled designs, according to the current US product page. |
| Belts | New Holland announced 30- and 36-inch widths and three brand choices; brand names are not stated in the North American release. |
| Road speed | Up to 25 mph in New Holland’s North American announcement; up to 40 km/h in its Australian announcement. These are regional manufacturer claims, not independent measurements. |
| Fuel capacity | The 2024 North American and Australian launch releases each describe a 47% increase, giving regional figures of 455 US gallons and 1,700 L, respectively. Keep each number tied to its announcement and region. |
| Maintenance and access | New Holland cites automatic tensioning and clearer access to track hubs as SmartTrax features. |
| Traction and terrain | New Holland Australia says SmartTrax offers more traction with less slippage, particularly in lighter soil. This is the manufacturer’s position, not a verified comparative field result. |
The Australian announcement also describes swinging cab steps that pivot as the tractor articulates, keeping the ladder from extending beyond the tracks. The release is dated March 7, 2024. New Holland Agriculture Australia’s announcement gives its regional specifications and operating details.

What broader T9 features are listed on New Holland’s current US page?
The current US T9 product page covers a wider family than the five-model SmartTrax launch group. It lists the T9.470 alongside the five launch models and gives a family-wide maximum-horsepower range of 467–699 hp. Those figures describe the broader current US T9 family, not the five SmartTrax tractors’ launch-rated-power range.
The page describes traditional Ultra Command powershift and Auto Command CVT transmissions, along with wheeled and SmartTrax designs. It also lists an IntelliView 12 display, Sidewinder Ultra armrest, remote viewing and diagnostic support, and hydraulic options for high-demand implements. These are T9-family context, not all changes unique to SmartTrax. The page states a three-year/2,000-hour factory warranty; confirm the applicable terms for a specific tractor and region with a dealer. See New Holland’s current US T9 product page.

When were orders expected to start?
The two 2024 releases described different original regional schedules. North America expected model-year 2025 orders to begin in summer 2024. Australia said orders would begin in March 2024, with tractors expected to arrive at year-end. These historical launch dates do not establish current stock, delivery timing or which models are now offered in a particular market. Check with an authorized New Holland dealer for regional availability, compatible belt options, pricing and current warranty terms.

Ken Paul, New Holland product marketing manager for high horsepower tractors, said in the North American release: “The T9 SmartTrax with PLM Intelligence reflects our legacy for pushing boundaries.” Marc Smith, New Holland product manager for Combine & High Horsepower Tractors, said in the Australian release that SmartTrax offered “a lot more traction with less slippage particularly in lighter soil conditions, where wheeled tractors tend to struggle.” Both are manufacturer statements, not independent findings.
