It was not one factory trim: Hurst built several versions based on the Challenger R/T and SRT8, with Series 3, 4 and 5 adding a Vortech supercharger. The original program ended in 2011, so these are now historical cars rather than a newly offered edition.
What the Hurst/Hemi Challenger was
Hurst’s program added performance and appearance equipment to Dodge Challenger R/T and SRT8 donor cars. Its listed series span naturally aspirated Series 2 models and supercharged Series 3 through 5 models. Equipment varied by series, so “Hurst Challenger” alone does not identify a car’s engine setup, appearance or installed parts. Hurst’s heritage timeline records the program launch and SEMA debut; its series specifications list the builds.
How the original series differed
| Series | Base Challenger | Powertrain | Appearance and equipment noted by Hurst | Historical HURST MSRP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Series 2 | R/T | Naturally aspirated | Hurst HARD-DRIVE shifter, polished forged 20-inch wheels, MagnaFlow stainless-steel cat-back exhaust, K&N air filter, Eibach adjustable coil-over suspension, Hurst leather trim with gold stitching and embroidery, and rear spoiler; exact equipment varies by series. | $18,350 package price, Hurst Performance Vehicles, 2008; excluded the base Challenger. |
| Series 2 | SRT8 | Naturally aspirated | Series 2 equipment; confirm the specific car’s build and installed parts. | $17,450 package price, Hurst Performance Vehicles, 2008; excluded the base Challenger. |
| Series 3 | R/T | Vortech-supercharged | Hurst lists the supercharger and series equipment; verify the individual build for exact contents. | $26,750 package price, Hurst Performance Vehicles, 2008; excluded the base Challenger. |
| Series 4 | SRT8 | Vortech-supercharged | Black with gold stripes; Hurst lists the supercharger and series equipment. | $25,150 package price, Hurst Performance Vehicles, 2008; excluded the base Challenger. |
| Series 5 | SRT8 | Vortech-supercharged | Custom White Pearl; Hurst lists the supercharger and series equipment. | $33,150 package price, Hurst Performance Vehicles, 2008; excluded the base Challenger. |
The figures are the historical package prices Hurst published in 2008, not today’s used-car values. The Series 2 SRT8 figure is lower than the Series 2 R/T figure in Hurst’s list; the published figures are reproduced as stated rather than adjusted. Period coverage likewise distinguishes the package price from the base car: MotorTrend’s December 11, 2008 report.
Hurst’s specification page also names a Competition Plus variant, but the listed Series 2–5 figures above should not be taken as its price or equipment. The available figures do not establish a current asking price, market value or inventory for any version.

How to authenticate an individual car
Hurst says its cars carry a sequentially numbered dash plaque and a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Its Owners Registry records the serial number, build date, color combination and series designation. For a specific car, match the plaque and certificate to the vehicle and request registry confirmation from Hurst; do not rely on badges, paint or seller descriptions alone.
Hurst describes Series 2 as dealer-channel cars. Series 3–5 were sold directly and included a Factory Delivery Experience in Irvine, California. The current specification page’s availability and pricing caveats do not establish that original-program cars remain available from Hurst: the original build operation closed in 2011.

Why the original program ended—and what came later
Hurst says it stopped accepting vehicles for production on July 29, 2011. Changes to OEM ECU programming on the 2011 Challenger prevented the calibration work needed for the supercharger program, and the final vehicle left Hurst’s Irvine Performance Center. Hurst’s history treats the later Heritage GSS Challenger as a separate program, not another original Series 2–5 build. It describes a 2015 run of 50 serial-numbered cars based on the R/T Scat Pack platform, as well as later anniversary builds.

A Hurst Challenger still has an underlying Dodge model year, trim and engine, and its modifications may differ from the series description. Mopar’s 2009 Challenger owner-resource selector identifies 2009 R/T 5.7L V8, SE 3.5L V6 and SRT8 6.1L V8 configurations and links to owner resources such as the manual. Establish the VIN, base trim, engine and parts actually installed before using a generic replacement-parts recommendation. Hurst’s equipment list names MagnaFlow exhaust, K&N filtration, Eibach suspension and a Hurst shifter, but does not establish current replacement part numbers or fitment for a particular car.

What to check before buying
- Identify the series and base trim, then confirm whether the car is naturally aspirated or has the Vortech supercharger.
- Compare the vehicle’s equipment and appearance with the Hurst series specification; equipment may vary.
- Inspect the serial-numbered dash plaque and signed Certificate of Authenticity, then seek a Hurst Owners Registry match.
- Check the donor Challenger’s VIN, year, engine and title history independently; Hurst provenance does not replace ordinary vehicle due diligence.
- For parts, identify the exact installed component and confirm fitment against the base car and any Hurst modifications.
