A May 2024 report on a new China-market BYD Song PLUS DM-i described a rear-badge change and revised engine and motor output figures. The report did not establish a launch price or independently verify performance. Later reports about the 2025 model describe different battery and range details and should be treated separately.
What changed on the new China-market Song PLUS DM-i?
Gizmochina reported on May 13, 2024 that the vehicle appeared in China’s 383rd batch of Road Motor Vehicle Manufacturer and Product Announcements. The underlying government catalog entry was not directly available for verification, so the specifications below are reported figures rather than independently confirmed test results. Gizmochina’s May 2024 report
The clearest visual change was at the rear: the earlier “BUILD YOUR DREAMS” lettering was replaced by a BYD emblem. The report said the overall shape and dimensions remained unchanged.

|---|---|---|
| Engine output | 81 kW | 74 kW |
| Electric motor output | 145 kW | 160 kW |
That is a reported decrease in engine output alongside an increase in motor output. These component ratings alone do not establish the car’s acceleration, total system output, fuel economy, or electric range.
What electric range was reported for the 2025 model?
A separate report about the 2025 model described BYD’s fifth-generation DM technology and three LFP battery options. Eda Auto Group listed the following electric ranges under WLTC; these are later model-year figures, not specifications established by the May 2024 announcement.

Keep China and Mexico specifications separate
BYD’s January 2024 release concerned the Song PLUS DM-i’s Mexico-market debut, not the China announcement. For Mexico, BYD reported a 1.5 L turbo four-cylinder engine, an 18.3 kWh Blade Battery, fuel consumption of 5.1 L/100 km, and a combined range of 1,150 km. Those are manufacturer-reported, market-specific figures and should not be treated as China-market specifications or as WLTC electric range. BYD’s Mexico-market announcement
When comparing Song PLUS DM-i versions, check the model year and market first, then compare engine and motor outputs, battery capacity, and the stated range test cycle. A price comparison is meaningful only when it matches market, edition, and trim.
