Nellore has separate procurement records for a 33/11 kV containerized substation at Gandhibomma and electrical works at an APSRTC e-bus depot. The records do not establish that the substation supplies the depot, that either project is operational, or that the substation is Nellore’s first. A separate report describes a planned charging-station rollout across five districts, including Nellore.
What is planned at Gandhibomma?
A tender-result listing describes an APSPDCL system-improvement project to design, manufacture, supply, install, test and commission one 33/11 kV containerized substation, also described as an E-house. Its specified equipment includes a 1×10 MVA power transformer, 33 kV and 11 kV AIS panels, and accessories. The 1×10 MVA figure is a procurement specification, not evidence that the equipment has been delivered or is operating. Tender-result listing
The listing reports a 2023 procurement timeline and an award. It is a secondary record; it does not by itself confirm the contractor or completion. The label “first” in the headline is also not independently verified by the available records.
What is known about the e-bus depot?
A separate APSRTC Nellore depot listing covers “LT Side Behind the Meter Electrical Infra structure for e -Bus Depot at Nellore.” It reports a 2025–26 tender reference and an award date, but the available listing is an aggregator and does not establish that the electrical works have been commissioned or that buses are charging there. The two listings concern different works. The available information does not show whether the depot project connects to the Gandhibomma substation or to another part of the grid. Nor does an APTRANSCO inventory listing of a 220/132/33 kV Nellore substation identify it as the same asset as the proposed 33/11 kV Gandhibomma E-house. APTRANSCO substation inventory
Is Nellore’s bus charging infrastructure operating?
The available tender listings and rollout reporting do not provide a reliable commissioning date or confirm that a Nellore charger or depot is in service. A Times of India report says APSPDCL was advancing five electric-bus charging stations across Nellore and other districts, with an estimated aggregate cost of ₹15 crore. That is a multi-district estimate attributed to the report—not a Nellore-only budget or confirmed final expenditure. Times of India report
Procurement, reported rollout work and an award are not the same as a commissioned charging site. A current official status update would be needed to establish when the Nellore depot will begin operating.
How Nellore fits into Andhra Pradesh’s wider charging plans
NREDCAP describes a proposed statewide network with fast-charging locations every 25 km on national and state highways and within a 3×3 km grid in cities. It says 150 public and private locations had been identified statewide, including petrol stations, APSPDCL substations, APSRTC depots and restaurants. These are planning targets and identified locations, not proof that the sites have been built or opened. NREDCAP Nellore district page
NREDCAP’s registration form asks prospective charging-infrastructure applicants for details such as the nearest substation, voltage and distance, charger type and capacity, number of chargers and charging guns, testing-lab certification, network service provider, estimated cost and expected commissioning duration. Those requirements illustrate why a charger’s location and grid connection need to be assessed for each site; they do not establish the design or status of the Nellore depot. - Whether the Gandhibomma substation has been completed, energized or entered service.
- Whether the Nellore APSRTC depot electrical works have been completed and when charging operations will begin.
- Whether the depot is connected to the Gandhibomma substation.
- Whether Gandhibomma is Nellore’s first containerized substation, and the geographic or technical scope meant by “first.”
- The Nellore-specific share, if any, of the reported ₹15 crore estimate for five district charging stations.
