For the 2025 model year, U.S. manufacturers offered naturally aspirated performance cars ranging from the 228-hp Toyota GR86 to the 502-hp Porsche 911 GT3. Confirmed examples include boxer-four and boxer-six engines and several V8s. These are manufacturer-published specifications, not results from a common head-to-head test; 2025 model-year offerings also do not establish what remains in dealer stock today.
Which 2025 performance cars had naturally aspirated engines?
The examples below are supported by official U.S.-market 2025 model-year material. They illustrate the range of cars and engine configurations, rather than an exhaustive list for every market.

How to compare these naturally aspirated engines
Start with the car’s role, not its peak horsepower
The GR86 is a lightweight rear-drive coupe; the Mustang GT and Dark Horse are V8 pony cars; the IS 500 is a performance sedan; the LC 500 is a grand tourer; and the 911 GT3 is a focused sports car. Those roles imply different priorities. A peak-horsepower figure alone cannot tell you which is quicker, more engaging, or better suited to your driving: mass, gearing, transmission, chassis, tires, and intended use all matter.

Read configuration details alongside the output
The published figures are not perfectly interchangeable. Ford gives the Mustang GT two outputs depending on active-valve exhaust, while the Dark Horse figure is tied to a 7,250-rpm peak. Toyota’s GR86 acceleration claims distinguish manual and automatic transmissions. Lexus specifies rear-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic for the IS 500, and a 10-speed automatic for the LC 500. Check the exact trim and market when comparing or shopping.
Match the specification to how you will drive
- For a compact sports coupe: the GR86 pairs a naturally aspirated boxer-four with a rear-drive layout and a choice of manual or automatic in Toyota’s cited material.
- For a V8 coupe: the Mustang GT and Dark Horse offer different published output levels; compare the exact configuration rather than treating every GT as a 486-hp car.
- For luxury with a V8: the IS 500 and LC 500 put naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8s in distinct sedan and grand-touring roles.
- For a focused sports car: the 911 GT3 combines a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter boxer engine with track-focused and Touring configurations.
- For the Corvette Z06: the cited manufacturer material confirms the LT6 engine’s naturally aspirated design, but consult a 2025-specific official specification before relying on a detailed output figure.
What “still available in 2025” means
Here, “available” means offered as a 2025 model-year configuration in the cited U.S. manufacturer material. It does not establish that a new vehicle can still be ordered or found at a particular dealer in October 2026, and it does not mean the same trim or engine is offered in every country. For a purchase, verify current local inventory and order status with an authorized dealer.
