NASCAR 25 is iRacing’s officially licensed NASCAR game, bringing four national series and career progression to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It launched on consoles on October 14, 2025, and on PC via Steam on November 11, 2025. Its appeal is the blend of sim-informed track and vehicle detail with modes and controls intended to welcome more than dedicated wheel users. But the available hands-on gameplay account is a pre-release preview, not a full post-launch review, so it does not support a definitive verdict on performance or overall quality.
What is NASCAR 25?
NASCAR 25 is a standalone racing game from iRacing Studios, built around the sport’s four national series. The official roster comprises the NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series, Craftsman Truck Series, and ARCA Menards Series. iRacing described ARCA’s inclusion as its first appearance in a standalone NASCAR title. iRacing’s launch announcement outlines the game and its series lineup.

What does the review evidence say about the driving?
The clearest detailed account available here comes from Windows Central managing editor Richard Devine’s hands-on preview, published before release using a work-in-progress build. He drove a short track, a superspeedway, and a road course, and reported trying a controller as well as a wheel. His observations cover drafting, adjustable AI difficulty, car setup, and tire behavior. That is useful first-hand preview coverage, but it is not a post-launch review or a controlled comparison with other racing games. Read the Windows Central hands-on preview.

iRacing and NASCAR describe the game as drawing on sim technologies, including laser-scanned tracks and detailed physical models of race cars. Those are developer and publisher descriptions, not independently measured findings. For context, iRacing executive vice president and producer Greg Hill said the company could apply laser scanning and newer methods for building tracks and car physics that were unavailable to it two decades earlier. NASCAR’s launch report attributes that comment to Hill.
The preview’s range of track types gives readers a useful way to think about the game’s handling: a superspeedway emphasizes drafting and traffic, a short track puts close-quarters control in focus, and a road course asks for different braking and cornering inputs. The preview reports impressions across those settings, but it does not establish that every track or car behaves consistently, nor does it provide a post-release technical assessment.

Does NASCAR 25 have a career mode and other ways to play?
Yes. Career progression takes drivers through the Cup, Xfinity, Craftsman Truck, and ARCA Menards series. The game also lists quick race, season or championship play, and online multiplayer. iRacing says online races support up to 40 players; that is a developer-stated maximum, not a promise that every lobby will reach that size. The iRacing announcement lists modes and the multiplayer capacity.
NASCAR’s vice president for Interactive and Emerging Platforms, Nick Rend, described the development partnership as combining iRacing’s simulation foundation with console developers experienced in careers, progression, user experience, and live-service systems. That is a named executive’s description of the design approach, not independent confirmation of how deep or satisfying the finished progression feels. Can you play with a controller, or do you need a wheel?
A wheel is not presented as a requirement. In its pre-release preview, Windows Central reports playing with both a controller and a wheel, and notes adjustable AI difficulty. That supports controller play as an option, but does not establish which control method is faster, more accurate, or preferable for every player. If you are choosing between a controller and a wheel, consider how much you value a simpler setup versus dedicated racing controls; no direct comparative test is available here.
Is NASCAR 25 worth buying?
It may suit players looking for a current NASCAR game with all four series, a multi-series career, and several race formats across console and PC. Its stated sim-derived track and vehicle approach is also a reason to investigate it if authenticity matters to you. The key qualification is the evidence: the detailed gameplay impressions cited here come from a work-in-progress preview, and the available sources do not establish a complete post-launch review consensus or platform-by-platform performance results. Use current reviews for your specific platform and check its storefront for current pricing and edition contents before buying.

How are editions, DLC, and physical copies handled?
Steam lists Standard and Gold editions, along with separately listed DLC and season-pass content. Prices and availability depend on storefront and region and can change, so check the current listing for the platform and country where you plan to play. The Steam product page shows its current PC options.
Windows Central’s pre-release preview reported that NASCAR 25 would be digital-only, with no physical copies. Because that information was reported before launch, check current retailers or platform stores if owning a disc is essential to your purchase.
