MotoAmerica says it is disappointed by Harley-Davidson’s decision to end its factory participation and official team support in Mission King Of The Baggers after the 2026 season. The series organizer called the timing late and said it is exploring options to continue supporting the class. The statements do not announce that the championship itself is ending.
What Harley-Davidson announced—and MotoAmerica’s response
On October 1, 2026, Harley-Davidson said it would conclude its factory participation and official team support in MotoAmerica King Of The Baggers following the 2026 season. The company described the decision as part of an evolved racing strategy, not as the end of the championship.
MotoAmerica responded on October 2. It thanked fans, described King Of The Baggers as a performance contest between two American manufacturers, and said it shared fans’ disappointment. The organizer’s statement said: “Receiving this news at such a late stage presents challenges, but we are actively exploring all available options to continue supporting the class.”
MotoAmerica has not announced a replacement factory team, a 2027 entry list, or settled plans for its future support. Its statement says it is exploring options and will provide more news later.

Is King Of The Baggers ending after Harley-Davidson leaves?
That has not been announced. Harley-Davidson’s factory program and official team support are ending after 2026; MotoAmerica’s response instead says it is looking for ways to continue supporting the class. The available statements leave the 2027 grid, schedule, rules and support model unresolved.
What changes for the series’ sporting picture?
The departure removes the announced factory-backed Harley-Davidson effort from the series after 2026, but it does not establish what other teams or manufacturers will enter next. MotoAmerica’s class overview describes the competition as touring motorcycles transformed into road racers, and names the Harley-Davidson Road Glide and Indian Challenger as eligible platforms.

Those are race-prepared motorcycles, not stock production bikes. MotoAmerica’s overview lists a 620-pound (281.2 kg) minimum weight for the class; the page does not state the overview’s publication year.
Harley-Davidson’s King of the Baggers 2026 page identifies Kyle Wyman as the 2025 champion on a factory-prepped Road Glide. MotoAmerica’s 2026 season rider entry list includes Harley-Davidson x Dynojet Factory Racing and Road Glide entries. These details show the factory program’s recent place in the field; they do not confirm what next season’s entries will be.

How Harley-Davidson framed its racing strategy
In its October 1 announcement, Harley-Davidson also described the FIM Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup as a global championship exclusively for Harley-Davidson bagger motorcycles. That is distinct from MotoAmerica’s King Of The Baggers, whose class overview names both Road Glide and Indian Challenger platforms. The official descriptions establish different manufacturer eligibility and organizing contexts, but do not establish technical equivalence or future schedules.
Harley-Davidson said its Factory Racing Team had won three of six national championships in the category and described Kyle Wyman as its most successful rider, with 27 individual wins. Those are figures from the manufacturer’s 2026 announcement. Chief Operating Officer Bryan Niketh framed the strategy around applying lessons from racing to performance products; the statement does not say product sales, cost, audience figures or a dispute with MotoAmerica caused the King Of The Baggers decision.

What is still unknown for 2027
- Whether additional manufacturer-backed teams will join the class.
- The 2027 grid and final schedule.
- The class rules and the precise support model MotoAmerica will use after Harley-Davidson’s factory exit.
MotoAmerica’s October 2 statement does not resolve those questions. Any claims about the next season’s lineup or format would go beyond what the organizer has announced.
