Most Expensive Tesla Models in 2026: Plaid, Cyberbeast and Roadster

The Model X Plaid leads Tesla’s researched 2026 production pricing, but the Roadster’s $109,000 reservation price and the Cyberbeast’s destination-inclusive figure require careful comparison.

The most expensive production Tesla in the researched U.S. 2026 pricing snapshot is the 2026 Model X Plaid, listed at approximately $129,990. The Model S Plaid follows at about $126,380. Tesla’s second-generation Roadster has a higher stated base price than the Cybertruck Cyberbeast—$109,000—but that figure comes from a reservation agreement, not a normal production-car purchase. The 2026 Cybertruck Cyberbeast was listed at $101,985 including destination in a June 16, 2026 pricing snapshot.

That distinction matters. Tesla’s prices change, the Model S and Model X figures reflect final-year or remaining-inventory listings, the Cybertruck figure includes destination, and the Roadster is not presented as an immediately deliverable production vehicle.

1. 2026 Tesla Model X Plaid: the most expensive production Tesla in the snapshot

Cars.com’s 2026 Model X research page lists the Model X Plaid AWD at $129,990 as a starting price. That makes it the highest-priced production or remaining-inventory Tesla identified in the current-market research.

The number needs a qualification: the same research identifies 2026 as the Model X’s final model year, and Tesla’s remaining Model S and Model X inventory had received a substantial price increase. In other words, this is best treated as a dated market snapshot rather than a permanent, conventional long-term MSRP.

There is also a meaningful source-basis difference. Consumer Reports lists the 2026 Model X base MSRP range at $99,990–$114,990 before its stated destination charge, while Cars.com lists the Plaid at $129,990. Those figures should not be blended into a single supposedly definitive price. They illustrate why a buyer should identify the model year, trim, source date, destination treatment, and whether the listing concerns fresh configuration or remaining inventory.

What the Model X Plaid offers for the premium

The Model X Plaid is not simply an expensive version of a large electric SUV. Tesla describes it as a tri-motor all-wheel-drive performance SUV with:

  • 1,020 peak horsepower
  • A claimed 2.5-second 0–60-mph time
  • 335 miles of estimated range
  • Seating for up to six
  • 94.5 cubic feet of cargo capacity
  • 5,000 pounds of towing capacity

Those figures explain the Model X Plaid’s unusual position in Tesla’s range. It combines acceleration normally associated with a high-performance sports car with the passenger space, cargo capacity, and towing ability of a large SUV. Its price premium is therefore tied to both performance hardware and utility, not just interior trim or appearance.

2. 2026 Tesla Model S Plaid: the high-performance luxury sedan

Cars.com lists the 2026 Model S Plaid at approximately $126,380. Like the Model X, the 2026 Model S is described in the research as being in its final model year, so this price should be treated as time-sensitive rather than a timeless Tesla MSRP.

Tesla’s official Model S specifications give the Plaid a claimed 1.99-second 0–60-mph time, 368 miles of estimated range, and 1,020 horsepower. Cars.com additionally lists a 200-mph top speed and tri-motor all-wheel drive. Tesla identifies carbon-ceramic brakes and staggered wheels and tires as part of the Plaid’s performance equipment.

The Model S Plaid is best understood as Tesla’s extreme-performance luxury sedan. Unlike the Model X Plaid, it does not offer the same SUV seating and cargo configuration. Its appeal is the combination of a conventional sedan body, unusually long claimed range, very rapid acceleration, and access to Tesla’s charging ecosystem.

Why older Model S prices create confusion

Older articles may quote figures such as $96,630 or $129,990 for a Model S Plaid. Those numbers may have been accurate for a different model year, configuration, or pricing date, but they cannot be compared directly with the researched 2026 figure of $126,380 without identifying their basis.

The same rule applies to any claim that the Model S Plaid is or was the most expensive Tesla ever sold. Historical limited editions, options, special vehicles, used-car asking prices, and changing factory prices can produce different answers. This article’s narrower conclusion is that the Model X Plaid has the highest production or remaining-inventory price found in the researched 2026 U.S. snapshot.

A practical Model S accessory consideration

For buyers who want to use a premium Model S as more than a fast sedan, Tesla’s official shop lists model-specific accessories including a Model S roof rack. Exact fitment, glass-roof compatibility, current stock, seller, and installation requirements should be checked before purchase; the existence of an accessory category does not establish that the same Tesla-branded item is currently sold through every marketplace.

3. 2026 Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast: the premium utility leader

The 2026 Cybertruck Cyberbeast was listed at $101,985 including destination in the researched U.S. pricing snapshot dated June 16, 2026. The listed $1,995 destination charge is already included in that amount.

For context, the same snapshot listed the 2026 Cybertruck at $71,985 for Dual Motor AWD, $81,985 for Premium AWD, and $101,985 for the tri-motor Cyberbeast. It listed 320 miles of range for the Cyberbeast and 325 miles for the two dual-motor versions.

Cybertruck pricing has changed repeatedly. Earlier reporting documented a higher Cyberbeast price, followed by a reduction of approximately $15,000 in the 2026 lineup. The June 16 figure should therefore be labeled as a pricing snapshot, not treated as a fixed amount that will remain unchanged in Tesla’s configurator or inventory listings.

What makes the Cyberbeast expensive

The Cyberbeast occupies a different luxury niche from the Model S Plaid and Model X Plaid. It is an expensive, high-performance electric pickup whose value proposition includes:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Tri-motor performance and all-wheel-drive capability
  • Pickup-bed utility
  • Towing and cargo functionality
  • A 123-kWh battery, according to Tesla’s official Cybertruck materials
  • Powershare capability for supplying power through compatible equipment
  • Up to 11.5 kW of continuous power under Tesla’s stated system conditions

That means the Cyberbeast’s premium is not primarily about matching the Model S Plaid’s acceleration or the Model X’s passenger packaging. It is also paying for a distinctive truck design, onboard power capability, and the ability to serve as both transportation and an energy resource for compatible home or job-site equipment.

Cybertruck home backup is not included in the vehicle price

Tesla lists a Cybertruck home backup solution called the Powershare Home Backup Bundle. The $1,970 bundle consists of a Universal Wall Connector and Powershare Gateway. Tesla says it can provide up to 11.5 kW of continuous power and more than three days of backup power under its stated assumptions.

That system requires professional installation and homeowner or site eligibility. The official shop page was marked out of stock during the research period, so availability must be checked immediately before publication or purchase. The bundle price also does not represent the full installed cost: electrician labor, permitting, panel work, site limitations, and any required electrical upgrades can materially change the total.

4. Second-generation Tesla Roadster: the $109,000 reservation-only halo car

The second-generation Tesla Roadster belongs in a separate category. Tesla’s official Roadster page presents it as a vehicle that can be reserved and promotes claimed figures of 1.9 seconds from 0–60 mph, a top speed above 250 mph, and 620 miles of range. The page invites reservations or update requests, but it does not present a conventional live configurator price and ordinary delivery schedule comparable to a currently stocked Model S, Model X, or Cybertruck.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Tesla’s U.S. Roadster Reservation Agreement states a $109,000 base price, excluding taxes, applicable fees, destination charges, and options. It also states that a $9,900 reservation fee is required for the first reservation step and that completing that step does not constitute a sale.

Rank #2

  • Hot Wheels Tesla Model Y, HW Green Speed 1/10 [Gray] 37/250

So, if the question is strictly “which researched Tesla has the highest stated base number,” the Roadster ranks above the Cyberbeast. If the question is “which Tesla can a buyer normally configure and purchase as a production vehicle today,” the Roadster should not be ranked alongside the others. It is an aspirational halo car with a reservation agreement, not a regular delivery-inventory model.

Why Tesla’s most expensive vehicles cost more

Tri-motor performance hardware

The Model S Plaid and Model X Plaid use tri-motor all-wheel-drive systems and are rated by Tesla at 1,020 horsepower. Tesla claims a 1.99-second 0–60-mph time for the Model S Plaid and 2.5 seconds for the Model X Plaid.

That performance requires more than software settings. The Plaid models combine multiple drive units, substantial battery output, specialized thermal management, performance tires, and upgraded braking equipment. Tesla specifically highlights carbon-ceramic brakes and staggered wheels and tires on the Model S Plaid.

Utility and packaging

The Model X Plaid commands a premium because it adds large-SUV functionality to Plaid performance. Seating for up to six, 94.5 cubic feet of cargo space, and 5,000 pounds of towing capacity make it a fundamentally different proposition from the Model S sedan.

The Cyberbeast takes the utility argument in another direction. Its pickup bed, towing and cargo role, 123-kWh battery, and Powershare system give it capabilities that a fast sedan does not offer. A buyer may pay less than the Model S Plaid or Model X Plaid while still choosing the more expensive vehicle to operate if the truck’s charging, installation, and equipment requirements are significant.

Scarcity and lifecycle effects

The researched 2026 pages describe the Model S and Model X as final-year vehicles or discontinued models while still showing high prices for remaining inventory. That can create the counterintuitive situation in which a vehicle becomes more expensive in listings as its production lifecycle ends.

A high remaining-inventory price should not automatically be described as a new-generation luxury premium. It may instead reflect limited supply, Tesla’s pricing strategy, a particular configuration, or a temporary inventory adjustment. Buyers should compare live Tesla inventory with a dated third-party listing before drawing conclusions.

What the advertised prices do—and do not—include

These are not four fully optioned, drive-away prices. Depending on the vehicle and source, the displayed figure may exclude or separately calculate:

  • Destination charges
  • Sales or use taxes
  • Registration and title fees
  • Options and accessories
  • Financing costs
  • Insurance
  • Home charging equipment
  • Professional charger or Powershare installation
  • Possible electrical-panel or site upgrades

Tesla’s ordering guidance states that destination fees apply to new vehicle orders and that taxes and registration fees are calculated from the specific order details. The Cyberbeast figure in this article is specifically destination-inclusive, while the Roadster’s $109,000 reservation-agreement price specifically excludes destination, taxes, applicable fees, and options. Those different bases are why the four numbers should not be treated as an apples-to-apples ownership total.

Charging and backup-power costs for a high-end Tesla

A buyer spending six figures on a Tesla should budget for the charging environment rather than focusing only on the vehicle sticker price. Tesla’s official shop lists the Tesla Universal Wall Connector at $600. Tesla describes it as compatible with Tesla and non-Tesla electric vehicles, with Powershare home-backup functionality currently available for Cybertruck.

The $600 equipment price is not the same as an installed price. Installation may involve a qualified electrician, permits, a new circuit, conduit, load calculations, or an electrical-panel upgrade. A Cybertruck owner considering Powershare needs additional compatibility and site checks before assuming that home backup will work.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Tesla’s Powershare Home Backup Bundle was listed at $1,970 during research, but the official shop page marked it out of stock. It includes the Universal Wall Connector and Powershare Gateway, requires professional installation, and is subject to homeowner and site eligibility. The advertised backup duration of more than three days applies under Tesla’s stated assumptions, not as a universal guarantee for every home, household load, or outage.

Which expensive Tesla makes the most sense?

Choose the Model X Plaid if maximum Tesla price should come with maximum versatility.
It is the strongest fit for a buyer who wants Plaid acceleration but needs SUV seating, cargo room, and towing capacity. Its high researched price may also reflect final-year inventory conditions, so confirm the live configuration carefully.
Choose the Model S Plaid if performance sedan driving is the priority.
The Model S Plaid is the focused choice for a buyer who values the sedan body, 368-mile estimated range, claimed 1.99-second acceleration, and 200-mph listed top speed more than SUV or pickup utility.
Choose the Cyberbeast if capability matters more than conventional luxury.
The Cyberbeast is the premium utility option. Its bed, pickup packaging, Powershare capability, and large battery make it relevant to buyers who can use truck functionality or want an energy-backup role. Its price here includes destination, unlike some of the other displayed figures.
Reserve the Roadster only if the halo-car proposition is the point.
The Roadster has the most dramatic claimed performance and range figures in the group, but its $109,000 amount is a reservation-agreement base price. It should not be treated as an ordinary immediate-delivery purchase or compared with current inventory without that qualification.

How to check the real price before ordering

  1. Start with Tesla’s live U.S. configurator or inventory. Do this immediately before publication, shopping, or quoting a price. Tesla can change prices, promotions, destination charges, and inventory.
  2. Identify the exact model year and trim. A 2026 Plaid price is not interchangeable with an older Model S or Model X Plaid price.
  3. Record the price basis. Label it as starting price, MSRP, destination-inclusive price, inventory price, or reservation-agreement price.
  4. Separate vehicle options from ownership equipment. Wheels, tires, accessories, a Wall Connector, a Powershare Gateway, and installation should not be silently folded into the vehicle price.
  5. Request the final order summary. Check destination, taxes, registration, options, delivery charges, and any applicable incentives or adjustments.
  6. For home backup, verify site eligibility first. Confirm professional installation requirements, electrical capacity, permits, and whether the required Powershare equipment is actually in stock.

Source and terminology note

The price comparison draws on Cars.com’s 2026 Model S, Model X, and Cybertruck research pages; Tesla’s official Model S, Model X, Cybertruck, and Roadster materials; Tesla’s U.S. Roadster Reservation Agreement; Consumer Reports’ 2026 Model X pricing information; Tesla’s ordering guidance; and Tesla Shop listings for charging and backup-power equipment. Availability and pricing should be rechecked because the evidence includes live-style listings, final-year inventory, and a dated June 16, 2026 Cybertruck snapshot.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the most expensive Tesla model in 2026?

In the researched U.S. 2026 production or remaining-inventory snapshot, the Model X Plaid is the highest-priced model found, at approximately $129,990 as listed by Cars.com. That is a dated starting-price snapshot, not a guaranteed permanent MSRP.

Is the Tesla Roadster available to buy now?

Tesla presents the second-generation Roadster as a reservation vehicle rather than a normal immediately delivered production model. Its U.S. reservation agreement states a $109,000 base price, excluding taxes, fees, destination, and options, and requires a $9,900 reservation fee for the first reservation step. The reservation agreement also says that completing that step does not constitute a sale.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Is the $101,985 Cybertruck Cyberbeast price the final drive-away cost?

No. The researched $101,985 figure includes the $1,995 destination charge, but taxes, registration, financing, insurance, options, accessories, and charging or installation expenses can add to the total. The figure is specifically from a June 16, 2026 U.S. pricing snapshot.

Which is more expensive, the Model S Plaid or Model X Plaid?

In the researched 2026 U.S. listings, the Model X Plaid is higher: approximately $129,990 versus approximately $126,380 for the Model S Plaid. Both are described as final-year vehicles, and Tesla or inventory pricing can change.

How much does Tesla home charging add to the cost?

Tesla lists the Universal Wall Connector at $600, but installation is separate. For Cybertruck owners, Tesla listed a $1,970 Powershare Home Backup Bundle containing a Universal Wall Connector and Powershare Gateway. The bundle was marked out of stock during research and requires professional installation and site eligibility.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: The Model X Plaid is the most expensive production or remaining-inventory Tesla identified in the researched 2026 U.S. snapshot, while the Model S Plaid is the most focused luxury-performance sedan. The Cybertruck Cyberbeast costs less on the displayed vehicle figures but adds pickup and backup-power capability. The $109,000 Roadster has the strongest halo-car presence, yet its price belongs to a reservation agreement—not a normal production delivery listing. Before treating any number as current, match the model year, trim, fees, options, inventory status, and purchase date.
