The Monster Motorbike from Hell was a custom-built stunt vehicle reported in 2008 to be 13.6 tonnes, almost 30 feet (9 metres) long and 10 feet (3 metres) high. Stunt driver Ray Baumann designed and built it with a small team in Perth, Australia. Those figures come from a contemporary New Atlas report; they are not independently verified measurements.
Who built the Monster Motorbike from Hell?
New Atlas reported that stunt driver Ray Baumann designed and built the machine in Perth with a small team, over three years. The article described Baumann as a road-train driver turned record-setting stunt-jumper. It did not provide an independent build record or certification.
How big and heavy was it?
In its 2008 feature, New Atlas described the bike as almost 30 feet (9 metres) long, 10 feet (3 metres) high and weighing 13.6 tonnes. It also reported that the wheels and tyres came from a Caterpillar 80-tonne front-end loader and were almost 10 feet (3 metres) high. These are specifications reported by the publication, not independently confirmed measurements.
The word “colossus” is descriptive: the report does not establish that the machine was officially certified as the largest or heaviest motorcycle.

How did the 13.6-tonne motorbike work?
The New Atlas account described a powertrain assembled from heavy-vehicle components: a Detroit Diesel truck engine, a six-speed Allison automatic transmission and a two-speed Eaton differential sourced from a road train. Chains on both sides drove the one-metre-wide rear wheel, according to the article.
The report does not give engine output, gearing, speed, braking performance or other engineering measurements, so those details cannot be inferred from the component list alone.

What was it built to do?
The machine’s spectacle was crushing cars and caravans. Baumann told New Atlas: “We did stunt driving for quite a few years, broke a few records and broke my back a few times, so this is a way of taking a bit more care.” He also said: “Now we crush things, which is definitely less risky than jumping them – we still do jump things, but not at the Melbourne Motor Show.” That was Baumann’s personal assessment, not an independently established safety finding.

New Atlas reported that the bike was heading to the Melbourne Motor Show in 2008. The article listed the show as running from 5 p.m. on February 29 to 6 p.m. on March 10, 2008; those dates are historical, not a current viewing opportunity. The article’s search-result heading is dated January 29, 2008, while its body begins January 30, 2008.

The 2008 report does not establish the vehicle’s present location, whether it still operates or whether it is available for public viewing.
