Molex Percept is a family of bidirectional, high-current sensors designed to measure current in automotive and industrial busbar systems. Molex lists family current-range options from ±450 A to ±1,600 A, ±2% accuracy over temperature and product lifetime, and operation from −40 to +125 °C. The design pairs Infineon coreless differential Hall sensing with Molex packaging that can integrate the sensor into a busbar.
What the Percept sensor is designed to do
Percept is intended for high-current power systems—not general-purpose consumer electronics. Molex identifies automotive systems, industrial inverters, motor drives, power distribution and charging systems as applications. Its differential Hall-effect approach measures the magnetic field associated with current flowing through a conductor without placing a conventional resistive shunt in the current path.
The sensing element uses Infineon coreless differential Hall technology; Molex supplies proprietary electronics packaging. Molex and Infineon describe the combination as a compact, robust approach for automotive and industrial environments. In particular, differential sensing is intended to help reject interference from stray magnetic fields, which can be a concern around EV power electronics and motor drives. That design intent is not a substitute for validating noise immunity in the target system.
Published specifications
Molex’s published family specifications include the following. The current range describes available range options across the family, not necessarily one device that can be configured to every value in that span.

The accuracy figure is a vendor-published claim, not a complete error budget for a finished vehicle or industrial system. A design review should confirm the exact part’s range, output interface and accuracy conditions against the application’s measurement and safety requirements.
How the busbar integration works
The family includes a vertically inserted sensor-in-busbar package and an optional sensor-only package. The integrated approach brings the conductor and sensing electronics together; Molex describes the broader assembly as incorporating the busbar, connectors, PCB, heat-sink and mechanical elements for demanding high-current and high-temperature environments.

Molex says the busbar can be calibrated at the factory at end of line. That can reduce calibration work during final system integration and improve repeatability, but it also makes the specific busbar and assembly configuration part of the implementation decision. A sensor-only package offers another configuration path, though the published information here does not specify a universal mechanical design or calibration procedure for every customer installation.
Size, mass and packaging claims
Molex’s 2024 product announcement says Percept is up to 50% smaller and 86% lighter than competing current sensors. These are company comparisons; the announcement does not establish a single reference sensor or measurement basis applicable to every competing product. Treat them as an indication of Molex’s intended packaging advantage, then compare dimensions and mass for the actual part and installation.

- [Function] The battery current sensor is used to measure the voltage, current value and temperature of the battery fluid to control the engine to generate the required stable voltage. Replace old battery sensors and fix charging system issues!
- [Easy to install] 1. Disconnect the negative cable and loosen the bolt with a tool. 2. Then use tools to remove the bolts on the other side of the wiring 3. Finally remove the old battery sensor and replace it with a new one, reconnect the cables and bolts.
- [Material] Made of plastic and metal material, sturdy and durable and provides stability and reliability.
Molex also says its proprietary packaging process uses 99% less water than typical PCB manufacturing. This is a manufacturing-process claim, not a measure of the sensor’s operating performance or total product lifecycle impact.
Could it fit an inverter or motor drive?
Those are among the applications Molex names. Before selecting a Percept variant, engineers should check that the chosen range covers expected normal current and transients, that the 4.5–5.5 V supply and output type match the control electronics, and that busbar geometry and mounting suit the available space and thermal environment.
